This thread will be the thread for discussing the <b><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... mz">Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 2</a></b> set.

To summarize, this is probably my favorite of the sets. Even as the Mickey cartoon shorts were being phased out, they remained entertaining. The extras are the best on the set, and the three more recent shorts from the '80s and '90s are terrific, and nicely presented.

My 10 favorites of the Disc 1 classic shorts from this set are (in chronological order):

Mickey is the first, and so far the only, set I have poped into my dvd player. I saw both Run Away Brain and a personal fave of mine Mickey and the Beanstalk, though this is the first time I ever saw the original version, the version I grew up with was the one with Ludwig Von Drake telling the story to hise little bug friend Herman, it would have been nice to have both versions, but I guess it's no bid deal...

The concept art they showed in the quick intro to the short looked very interesting I wouldn't mind seeing more and hearing more about the evolution of the story, while I doubt any of the bonus features will talk about the cartoon's developement, I still hope they atleast have some of the concept art in a gallery on the disc.

Will talk more about this specific treasure as I see more...

This was the first disc i popped in! Disc 2! I saw Christmas Carol, Prince and the Pauper and Runaway Brain all in Widescreen! it was a treat! Especially when only Foolscreen was available on VHS. I haven't watch the other tins or disc 1 of this set! i will be watching them in the next couple of days! I'm so excited! they all look nice together! hehe

Ok, I bought this one, but I don't own (and have never seen) the first two Mickey Treasures Sets. Is there a benefit to waiting and watching those 2 sets before I launch into this new one?

There is only a benifit if you are interested in watching how Mickey has changed. But it really makes no difference in which order you watch them.

I was dissapointed by the lack of the Mickey Mouse CLub song with the intros. I would have thought that they would have included it as well.

since Disc 2 is from the post Walt era and therefore not worhty of being called a ''treasure''.

But at least one of them (Mickey's Christmas Carol) is from the pre Eisner era.

Also, isn't it a mistake to call it "1939-today"??? I mean, if a short is made in 2004 then this set's name will be invalid

Should have been called "1939-1995"

I think that Mickey's Christmas Carol was made very well and things made recently can still be called a treasure. Also Today refers to the past maybe 10 years in my opinon.

My reason for buying these Treasures DVD sets is generally different than some Disney fans. In most cases, I already own all the contents on video, so I'm looking for two things - nicer DVD quality of picture and sound and any contents I may not have.

For this Treasure, I especially am thrilled to have The Standard Parade of 1939. I had never seen this, having never been able to find someone to trade for it. Although the parade itself has its origins in the Academy Award Winners Of 1932, I felt the contents of the parade had enough differences to be glad to have it.

I also enjoyed getting a nice, uncensored copy of Pluto's Dream House. Since it had been censored on the Disney Channel for many years, I was glad to get a nice uncensored DVD copy.

Of lesser interest was the color Mickey Mouse animation of his intros to the Mickey Mouse Club. I had them but not in as nice condition.

I was also happy to get Runaway Brain in DVD quality, nicer than the two copies I had.

I felt this DVD set was very well done and I give it a grade of "A".

I just got my mickey mouse set from UPS yesterday. So far Ive seen Mickey and the Beanstalk, Society Dog Show, Mickey late date. I also looked at the publicity galleries very high quality photos. Society Dog show was cute and funny and seeing Beanstalk after so many years was a treat. I am taking time with all my sets, I only plan on watching 2 or 3 from each set at a time so I can appreciate it more. Ive never seen Runaway Brain I probably will watch it tonight.

I only watched disc 2 so far but Prince and the Pauper and Runaway Brain were excellent! My first thought after seeing Runaway Brain was why don't they make more? The animation was outstanding, great artwork, it was fast paced, funny, and a whole lot of fun! Make more shorts!!!!

Scary...I didn the same thing!

I was blown away with Runaway Brain. I had never seen and wanted to see it for so long! I was upset that it was only a short. But my brother said that it was cut, is this true?

The picture of Prince and Pauper and MIckey's Christmas Carol looked great! I had always watched a fuzzy VHS version before and watching it on DVD was so cool! But I was wondering while watching...why did Minnie have such a SMALL role in MCC (she didn't even speak) and no role in P&P, not even a cameo? Was Russi Taylor on a decade vacation or something?

Anyhow, I look forward to watching the rest of the shorts and Disc One (and the last part of 10th Kingdom[another great, underappreciated Fairy Tale-mystery-adventure-family fun miniseries, which I got last weekend), but first I have to finish my hw!

I believe (and no doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong) Russi Taylor only got the job as Minnie in the mid 80s ie. post MCC. Still doesn't explain however why she is missing from PatP. Hopefully there will be a nice expansive role for her in the forthcoming Musketeers flick
