"Professor" was, I believe, the first all-live-action comedy Disney produced, and its success had a huge effect on the studio's future live-action output. As such, I'm surprised they gave it the colorized/no extras treatment.

My knowledge of the old Disney love action films is limited (I was always the animated film fan, still am), but there are a few I'd like to see Vaulted/Special Editioned:
1. Song of the South - just want it out on DVD in Widescreen! SE would be icing.
2. Darby O'Gill and the Little People - ditto above
3. Treasure Island - unlikely given the recent release, but this deserves better.
4. Mary Poppins - would just like to see a good SE that this crowd pleaser deserves. Bedknobs and Broomsticks deserves the same.
And goof ball - not a waste of time! This board lives for speculation.
And no post could be a bigger waste of time than the stuff I put up

Sorry, just stirring it up!I think that Bedknobs is a much better film than Poppins, but I accept Poppins is the most popular. So I would like to see both.

Song of the South - I already have a bootleg, but I'd very much like to have a clean, official release.
Mary Poppins - Great film, needs an upgrade on features.

Babes In Toyland - only thing holding me back now is that it's in Pan & Scan.
Uh, Loomis, Song of the South came out original in 1946, which was still the days of plain old 4:3 ratio theater screens.

It's probably open-matte. By 1960, most movies were in widescreen, and from Disney's proper releases of their live-action titles, one gathers that most of their live action films were framed for 1.75:1. So, even if it's cropped, it's losing about 25% of the picture. And if composition looks okay, more likely it's simply a case of mattes being open.disneyfella wrote:Sulley:

But that still doesn't make it in the right ratio. But so few of Disney's older live action films do get presented properly on DVD, so it's either accept it or don't own the film.

In the Snow White "through the decades" feature, it was said that Shaggy Dog was the bigging of the live action comedy series. I would like to see this, as well as the 1994 remake on DVD, I have only ever seen the remake, and years ago, but it was funny and good.
I also wouldn't mind seeing a 2 disc SE Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I know it is too young to be Vault Disney, as that was a certain time period, and no movie theat came after that period would have that banner, if they were still doing it.
I too am an animation fan, so beyond that I really don't that much more about this genre of Disney. BTW Marry Poppins is suppose to be getting a 2 DISC SE this January.

2. Treasure of Matacumbe (watched it last night, and my VHS is dying!)
3. Holes (way too young, but I wish it would get a better release than just standard)
4. The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again (to go with the Apple Dumpling Gang's first DVD release. I hate the Pan and Scan DVD I have!)
