Anyone who buys it want to tell us what the video and sound quality is like.

I am talking about the Green and Yellow set released today.

I bought it, but for some reason Amazon is taking two weeks to ship it.

Well I made the plunge and got the box - the 5th disc Go West/Big Store is a write off but A Night at the Opera and A night in Casablanca are classic. A day at the races, room service and at the Circus are decent to.

Just watched the Night at the Opera disc. The vintage shorts are fun to have, but I doubt I will watch them again.

I'm half-way through Maltin's commentary on Night at the Opera and it's very entertaining and informative. I don't know why Maltin doesn't do commentaries on the Treasures sets. One would have been ideal on The Reluctant Dragon, and I'm sure he could do one for the odd Disneyland episode too.

That's actually a very good idea. I never thought of that... a commentary by Maltin would be good. Either that or one by historians or anyone who worked on the films/shows.

I thought that the quality was good except for the audio in the short Sunday Night at the TOcardero.

Now that the Universal Marx Brothers set has been released, it begs the question-if one can't afford to buy both-which one should one buy?
The biggest problem is that the Marx Brothers two best movies- Duck Soup and Night at the Opera are each in a different set.
My recommendation would be to buy the Universal set-the quality of the other films included is higher and if possible add the single Night at the Opera disc. If you're a fan, you most likely already own the Warners set-so you've probably just been salivating to have the Universal set.
Kudos to Universal for putting out a high quality product-each movie is on its own disc-the extras on a separate disc and a high quality illustrated book (the book is bound into the Dvd casing, so you have to leave the Dvd case open to read the book, a minor fault) So much better than Universal's handling of the Abbott and Costello movies.
Now if I can just get Universal and Warner to release the rest of the Abbott and Costello movies-and for Columbia to do the Three Stooges justice-I'll be one happy camper.

Personally, I think the Paramount (now owned by Universal, so owned by NBC!) films are much better than the MGM and RKO films.

I'm waiting for the US Universal set to arrive. Transit of parcels from America has slowed to a crawl at the moment thanks to our wonderful overworked H M Cutoms.

I do however have the UK Universal set (annoyingly minus the Coconauts). And I love it.
