I might pad my way into the shops tonight or tomorrow to check it out.
A friend of mine was panicking last night. "Do you think there will be ANY COPIES LEFT THIS WEEKEND??? I MUST READ IT BEFORE SO-AND-SO OR SHE WILL SPOIL IT FOR ME!!!!" she exclaimed.
I pretty sure copies will be available.
I can wait.
After the long-winded, 'needs a damn good edit' fourth installment, things aren't looking up for #5.
I think Rowling has run out of ideas. But that is just IMO.

Last night I picked up an Express Voucher from Books A Million and then came home and watched the Dateline Katie Couric interview with J.K. Rowling. After that I watched my Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets DVD and left a little after 12 to get my book. The purpose of the voucher was sort of defeated as 85% of the customers had one, but I wasn't in line more than 8 minutes.
Anyways, I've got mine too

Well I didn't actually start reading yesterday, as it was so late, but I think I am going to start now.
Hopefully Book 6 will come out next summer like it is suppose to. Harry Potter was suppose to be my age and follow my age group, but due to the 2 years of no book, he is now 2 years behind me
Now All I have to anticipate HP wise is the upcoming movie scheduled for feb. 2004 (uh oh, I hope there not going in the same direction with the movies, scheduling them further and further apart. They will need to go through several Harrys, Rons, Hermoines, et all, before they finish)

I've read the first 4 books and am now close to 100 pages into the 5th book. I started reading them last year and my chruch wants me to have a harry potter themed sermon in the future.
I am still wondering who is going to die in this book....

Choco- YES!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO READ ALL 4!!!!!!! or atleast the next 2 or you will be Completely lost!!!!!
Poco- I'm surprised at that, most of the church goers I know, think Harry Potter is the pawn of the Devil. No Lie!!! I know it's rediculous, but they say he practices "black magic". Any way I'm surprised your church would promote that. I guess they have brains and realize he is just an innocent fictional character. I mean not fictional, but well I don't know where to go with this... Anyway there is nothing bad about Harry Potter

I concur. You should read every book in order. Don't just watch the movie. Read the book. I pulled an all-nighter and read from about 1:00 AM when I got home till about 8:00 without stopping, except for a couple 10 min breaks every 4 hours or so. I have also read about 6 additional hours since this morhing. I am up to 20 chapters so far, and this is the most enjoyable book so far. It is FILLED with mystery suspense, and FUN. I have read many theories over the past 2 years about what book 5 would contain, and I must confess that MANY of them have not come close to the amount of new suproses, and twists in the plot that JK has masterfully included in this masterpeice.

This is good. I'm thorugh about 300 pages now and it's nothing like I expected!!!!
As for the church thing, if you look at the good vs. evil in the book, you can see who the good is. As for one who does preach occasionaly on Sundays, I wouldn't "preach" the book, I'd "preach" the meanings in it. I now live back in the Bible belt and there are a lot of HP "haters" here who actually have never read the book, they hear what someone tells them and goes on blind faith. Honestly, that is how cults get started and it saddens me that some people don't get all the facts before making a blatent statement that HP is evil.
Now if someone read the book and decided it wasn't according to the tenets of their faith then I don't have a problem with someone showing some parental control.
As for my church, we are baptist and many of the families love the HP books. Actually, some of the people that like the HP books have a major distain toward the Lord of the Ring books and movies because of the major focus of violence and such.

I feel left out. I had to help my cousin move all day today and still haven't started. The voucher was basically a fancy receipt for the book (created like a Hogwarts Express train ticket) that we just exchanged for the book when it went on sale, no questions asked. Yes please everybody, NO spoilers.

Sorry, you'll just have to read it to find out, and don't anyone else give them the answer
You can't say I didn't warn you...
