Australian DVD in July - Updated: LK2, Ducktales etc

Post by Loomis »

From my DVDBitsreport (edited):

With the recent release of the Lion King on DVD in Australia, and the announcement of Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata to DVD in June, perhaps it comes as no surprise that The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride Special Edition will be released on DVD in Australia on July 21. No specs yet.

And speaking of all things Disney, I noticed that the OFLC has passed the 2-disc Walt Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald recently. This may mean we will see at least part of the current wave of Walt Disney Treasures in Australia soon!

I imagine, then, that the Australian equivalent will be around then, given that we are both getting Lion King 2 in July, it would make sense that we have roughly the same release schedules.

Australian dates should be announced on Saturday, or failing that, Monday.

Ok, I've updated this post to make it Australian DVD in July, as I have just posted this on DVDBits

According to the listings on EzyDVD, Buena Vista/Disney have announced at least some of their July titles. This is in addition to the Lion King 2 DVD I announced yesterday.

July 7 will see the long-awaited Ducktales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp; prison comedy Lucky Break; apparent comedy View From the Top and sequel tie-in Spider-Man: Spider-Man v Doc Ock (from the 90s animated series) and The Hunted (2003).

July 21 will see theme-park based Haunted Mansion (what's next - Teacups: The Motion Picture?), Journey of Natty Gann; Heartbreak Hotel and the live-action Jungle Book - Mowgli's Story. Stay tuned for more details as they come to hand.

I watched Ducktales at the movies once. It's a really funny film. I can't wait for Disney to release it in the US.

I wonder when Disney will announce Simba's Pride in the US? Maybe next month.

Thanks for the info everyone.

Thanks for the info Loomis

As a fellow Aussie I appreciate these updates.

Can't wait for Ducktales as I loved watching that as a kid. When I say kid I was in my teens....but hey I matured late. Though if you ask my wife and kids I never matured at all :)

It really bothers me that for many of the Disney titles I have to order from the states cause they either don't come out here in Oz or they come out in truncated versions without any special features.

My whinge complete I guess I must at least be thankful for Amazon!

Quick update.
Aussie supplements to LK2 as per the BVHE site:

Lion King 2
FEATURETTES:
- Timon & Pumbaa: Find Out Why?
- Lots About Lions
- Proud of Simba's Pride
- Sing along with the Movie
- "One By One" Short
MUSIC VIDEO
- "Love Will Find A Way"
TIMON AND PUBAA'S PRIDE LAND GAMES

The rest are all TBC. Typical.

Strangely, the Ducktales movie is not on the BVHE site, although a number of retailers are already taking preorders for it. This is not the first time this has happened, and it usually means the DVD doesn't surface (e.g. Make Mine Music, the first time the Treasures were advertised). However, given that it is popping up all over the world (and not just Aussie), I'd say we ARE getting it soon.

All part of Disney Australia's plan not to sell a single DVD.

Do you know what kind of treatment Ducktales: The Movie- Treasure of the Lost Lamp will get?

I really hope it get a 2 disc Special Edition.
If it get's a one disc treatment I'll be so mad. :x
Duck Tails was one of my favorite cartoon show when I was growing up during the early 90's.

Got to love the theme song.
I really hope the theme song is on the DVD. :thumb:
