Re: Disney Sued Over Lorcana
Has anyone else bought any of the Lorcana stuff before? The other day I happened to be scrolling on Amazon and saw an ad for some big story point titled, "Ursula's Revenge," which sent me down a YouTube rabbithole. The story sort of reminded me of Kingdom Hearts as far as the Disney stories being separate worlds and all, and the way most of the characters are re-interpreted in sort of RPG terms (like Donald and Goofy as mage and knight in KH). Cinderella's design as a knight was actually really nice--made me think of Jim Shore a bit--and the twist of her as a knight with the Fairy Godmother giving her a sword like Merlin made me laugh because of how similar Disney's version of Arthur in TSitS has always been to their Cinderella as it is.
Belle as an Archer was a really pretty picture, too.
I like how the arc culminates with Ursula as the big bad (at least for now), since usually stories like these use Maleficent, the Queen, or Hades. It was interesting the way the story had Ursula using several characters who would be useful to her like Bruno, Dolores, Hercules, etc. They leave foreshadowing for the next arc, with a shadow appearing to take the crown at the end. It sort of leads you to believe it might be Hades who's next, but the shadow to me looked a little too slim around the shoulders to be him, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Queen (she would think she should wear the crown, ha).
That said, I know I'd never play card games, but Ravensburger's artwork is so pretty. I might buy the Ursula's Revenge box for the artwork of that character if nothing else. I'd actually like the idea of them using Ursula like that in KH somewhere down the line since she's already in the dark realm in that story.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"

Re: Disney Sued Over Lorcana
I bought a starter pack from the first wave and some surprise bags from the second and the third one. The artwork is really pretty and some cards are just amazing. One thing that I love is all the ammount of artist that are working on Lorcana and that worked for Disney before.
The game is not very difficult. We learned how to play with youtube tutorials but with this new Ursula's collection they changed a few things.
I suppose that ravensburger is the one who has been sued. They created the game and I'm sure that Disney only gave them the rights to use the characters.
I think that Ravensburger should have focussed more on Villanous and wait a little more to release Lorcana. They are releasing so much collections in a short space of time. People are going to be tired about the game by the end of the year and I think that trading cards players and collectors are more into other IP like YU-GI-OH or Pokemon so i think that they are not going to spend much moeny on Disney. These cards seems more focussed on a general public instead of these collectors.
