New Disney Merchandise

Post by UmbrellaFish »

I don’t think we’ve ever had an ongoing thread to discuss new Disney merch? Whether it’s licensed or direct from Disney themselves. Anyway, I have become a full-fledged Disney Adult TM (if I claim it, it can’t hurt me) and I think I own more Disney merchandise than I ever did as a child. It makes me happy, it’s my money, and I was a little gay boy so I didn’t get a lot of stuff (especially Princess stuff!) that I wanted. Anyway, I thought this thread would be fun to discuss new things coming out… not necessarily things we already own since there are threads about merchandise collections.

I collect Hallmark ornaments (do you know how often people tell me I remind them of their grandmother?) and Hallmark does great things with their Disney licenses. Recently, the Hallmark Dreambook leaked online and some Disney ornaments were shown:

A whole set of Haunted Mansion ornaments:
https://wdwnt.com/2023/04/first-look-at ... ming-soon/
(very cool, not for me because I don’t put spooky things on my tree. Maybe one day I’ll have a Halloween tree though!)

Various Disney ornaments:
https://wdwnt.com/2023/04/new-disney-ha ... al-parade/
(I love the Main Street Electrical Parade one and the Peter Pan’s Flight one. I’ll be sure to buy those when they come out. Not crazy about the silver toned 100th anniversary ornaments)

Anyway, there’s usually a slew of Hallmark Disney ornaments so I’m sure more will be revealed in time. I’ll post them here as they come out!

Edit: More Disney and Pixar ornaments from Hallmark!

Disney’s newest merchandise line for the 100th anniversary is “Disney Unified.” It puts Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters side by side. I like the novelty of that idea but I think the execution is lacking. It’s kind of ugly. I also wish it had included characters owned by Fox— they could have added Shirley Temple, Marilyn Monroe, Maria von Trapp, Anastasia, Jack and Rose, etc etc. Personally, not for me: https://wdwnt.com/2023/04/disney100-uni ... ection-mk/

Also a whole new line of Munchlings have been announced! This line’s theme is street food! https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/ ... ney-parks/

Yeah, that Disney Unified line is definitely ugly. No thanks!

Thank you for sharing these! I can’t wait to ride Mr Toad’s Wild Ride in California one day…

Have you seen the plush from the Disney 100 collection?: https://www.shopdisney.com/the-three-li ... pProduct=1

They are insanely expensive and I don’t have room for them, but they are so cute. I have always loved that section of Fantasia, too…

I had not seen those - those are so adorable! Because they're multi-packs, the price isn't *awful* but more $ than I can spend at the moment.

Whoa! I need these.

A friend of mine in CA actually just sent me a Mr. Toad mug he got during a recent trip to Disneyland, along with a couple of other goodies. I forgot how much I missed that ride when I visited back in September, enough so that it was one of the rides I had to make sure that I went on a second time.

Did you guys see the 50's merch that dropped for the Decades Collection?

https://www.shopdisney.com/disney100/de ... ollection/

I like that a couple of live-action features are represented. The Shaggy Dog plush is adorable! Pricey, but I'm strongly considering it the next time they have a sale. And I also really like the 20,000 Leagues ears. I'm normally not a fan of their ears, they make my head feel weird, but I'm a sucker for anything Nautilus-themed. I also love the pin with Goofy and Humphrey, which I need to get alongside the Scrooge pin from the 40's series.

Thank you for posting! I like the 20,000 Leagues ears and Shaggy plush! I wonder if there’s ever been Shaggy Dog plush before?

I’m so excited for the 60’s… they always pick a weird assortment of big titles and lesser known titles so I really hope Mary Poppins gets some love.

This time they’ve given us Merlin and Madame Mim plush! But sadly, no Poppins in this collection. :(

I was at the Disney Store in New York, saw the Cinderella lenticular transformation mini back pack there after seeing it here, and after two friends telling me about it and showing me pictures of it, and I finally caved and bought it. I love it. I haven't figured out how much use I'll have for it beyond holding a water bottle or something, but I love it:

Thank you! And that Merlin and Mim plush are not only so cute, they're so specific to a rarely seen...scene! It's such fun merch of such a fun part! I am sorry there is no Poppins. :( I bet they will do something great with Mermaid, though! If they haven't already...?

Mattel is releasing a new collector’s edition Alice doll and I think the concept is so clever: https://creations.mattel.com/products/d ... doll-hlx68

Ouch. Cute doll and smart concept, but that price is not it. Especially because you can tell her facial screening is pixelated. What on Earth possessed them to price her that high is beyond me.

And that's a super-cute backpack, Duster!

Cute to see one of Merlin's forms from the duel actually used in merchandise for once. There are a lot of cute forms for all the characters in that film--crab!Merlin, caterpillar!Merlin, goat!Merlin, hen!Mim, rhinocerous!Mim, squirrel!Merlin, fish!Wart, pigface!Mim, beautiful!Mim, fish!Merlin, etc. :P

The carriage and pumpkin vines at the top of the bag are the best part of the bag, Duster.

$100 is the price of that Alice doll, right? That's less than usual for a limited edition doll. Usually they're at least $200. The concept is so cool, too.

My back pack was $95 with all the tax, so this merch is just that kind of expensive.

Thanks guys for your comments on my back pack! I actually think the lenticular transforming part of the bag is the best part, but I do like those vines and carriage at the top. Heck, I like all of it! On the back is a bigger image of the coach, with the shadow of the castle behind it.

That's a very nice backpack, Duster! I'm glad you were able to get it, and I hope it goes to great use while staying as gorgeous as it is.

Aside from the Merlin and Mim plush set, I was disappointed in the 60's set. I was hoping that there could be room for Mary Poppins and maybe one of Hayley Mills' movies, or even Herbie, but sadly, they only stuck to the animated properties this time. I would like to think that maybe Herbie can show up in the 70's, but since we got a Heffalumps and Woozles pin this time, that seems doubtful.

The decades series also seems light on parks merch, now that I think about it. I don't mind it, though, if they stick to the movies and TV instead. Here's hoping for Gargoyles representation in the 90's.

Thank you Avaitor! Yes, gorgeous is how I would describe the back pack. Me and my friends on the NYC trip were worried it would get ruined if it got rained on. Do you guys think that would happen? Is there a way to tell? Maybe I need to read the tags, though I was going to anyway because there is info about Disney 100 and Cinderella on them.
