The studio is working on an animated Spider-Women film that will focus on three generations of women with Spidey powers. Bek Smith will write the script. One of these characters could very well be Spider-Gwen, a breakout character from the Spider-Verse. Amy Pascal will produce, and it's likely that Avi Arad and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller will also be involved as will Christina Steinberg.
Lauren Montgomery, who also worked on Voltron and co-directed animated movies Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse for DC, is in negotiations to helm an untitled Spider-centric project that will gather the female heroes in the Spider-Man universe of characters in one adventure. Bek Smith, who wrote episodes of CBS show Zoo, will pen the script.
No plot details are sticking on the web at this time, but look for the project to center on fan favorite Spider-Gwen. Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Spider-Girl and Silk are other possible contenders.
Amy Pascal, who is a producer on Spider-Verse as well as the live-action movies, will be back in the producer’s chair for these projects. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the brainiacs behind Spider-Verse, are expected to be creatively involved although no deals have been made. Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg are also expected to return in some capacity.
Pascal also confirmed that a previously announced Spider-Women spin-off, written by Bek Smith, will feature Spider-Gwen and Cindy Moon (a.k.a. Silk) as well as Jessica Drew (a.k.a. Spider-Woman).
Not really interested in this. The only Spider-Woman that I actually like is the original Jessica Drew incarnation who has never had any connections to Spider-Man. I hope she's not used in this, because I'd prefer she have a place in the MCU since her richest ties are with Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.LD., HYDRA, The Avengers, and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Even Wolverine to an extent.
We’re a dyad in the Force. Two that are one. "I offered you my hand once. You wanted to take it." - Kylo Ren "I did want to take your hand. Ben's hand." - Rey
Can't we go back to focusing on Mary Jane? I'm so tired Emma Stone's OC gets promoted to the high heavens while the actual complex and interesting female character of Spider-Man gets relegated to the background or portrayed poorly by Kristen Dunst and Zendaya.
