The Real Fairy Godmother (ABC TV Series)

Post by Sotiris »

Kristin Chenoweth is our fairy godmother!
Kristin Chenoweth has signed on to star in and produce the ABC put pilot “The Real Fairy Godmother,” Variety has learned.

Chenoweth would star as a self-absorbed “real housewife” who learns that she’s descended from a secret order of Fairy Godmothers and has an inescapable destiny to use her magical abilities to help those in need. As she begrudgingly executes her assigned weekly missions, she slowly begins to realize just how superficial and morally bankrupt her actual life is and, to the confusion of her dysfunctional family and friends, tries to get them all to be better people.

Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, who wrote all the songs for the “Once Upon a Time” musical episode, will write and co-executive produce. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will executive produce through Zadan/Meron Productions. Zadan/Meron Productions’ head of development, Mark Nicholson, will serve as co-executive producer. Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith will serve as showrunners through Goldsmith Yuspa Productions.

I'm actually interested in seeing this. I've always liked Chenoweth, so I'll check it out. The premise doesn't sound like something that would last beyond a season though... I can picture it flopping in the ratings, too.

I like Kristen Chenoweth and this is a more natural role for her than playing Rapunzel or Maleficent. I wonder if it'll be a half-hour comedy or a full hour drama.

That team of songwriters did the songs for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time and Twice Charmed, too.

I love Kristen Chenoweth. I love this premise. I loved the songs in the musical episode of "Once Upon a Time". I think I'd love this.

I had no idea they were responsible for both those Cinderella projects. I love "So Much More Than a Dream." I honestly haven't seen Twice Charmed yet and I haven't really gotten a chance to listen to the songs either yet. I'm not sure though that the show will have songs. Sounds like the songwriters are just the writers for the show.

I also love "More Than a Dream". I really like the first three songs of Twice Charmed, "All Because of a Shoe", "In a Moment" and "Chasing a Dream". "Believe in Me" is kinda good but I don't think that good. But three great songs in a show is great!

I was hoping this would be a musical and have songs, but you're right, if they aren't mentioning it's a musical maybe they're just writing the story.
