DTVA & DisneyToon Studios Shorts

Post by Sotiris »

This is a list of the shorts produced by Disney Television Animation and DisneyToon Studios. I haven't included the shorts for the Disney Fairies and Planes franchises.

Petal to the Metal (1992)

Stand by Me (1995)

Totally Twisted Fairy Tales: Redux Riding Hood (1997)

Totally Twisted Fairy Tales: Three Little Pigs (1998)

Goofy’s Extreme Sports: Skating the Half Pipe (1998)

Donald's Dynamite: Opera Box (1999)

Goofy's Extreme Sports: Paracycling (1999)

Pluto Gets the Paper: Spaceship (1999)

Little Angelita (1999)

Grievance of a Starmaker (2002)

The Cat That Looked at a King (2004)

Winnie the Pooh: ABC's - Discovering Letters and Words (2004)

Winnie the Pooh: 123's - Discovering Numbers and Counting (2004)

The Origin of Stitch (2005) [co-production with Toonacious Family Entertainment]

Winnie the Pooh: Shapes and Sizes (2006)

Winnie the Pooh: Wonderful Word Adventure (2006)

Legend of the Chihuahua (2009) [co-production with Sam Hurwitz Productions]

Cubby's Goldfish (2011)

Notes:

• A third installment of Totally Twisted Fairy Tales was produced titled "Jack in the Beanstalk" and directed by Peter Tolan but was never completed.

• Two more Learning Adventures were in the works titled "Winnie the Pooh: Good Day, Good Night" and "Winnie the Pooh: Time to Rhyme" but were never released.

What about the Disney Princess Learning Adventures?

If you count "Stand By Me" as a short, shouldn't Belle's music video count as a short, too?

I only included the cancelled Winnie the Pooh ones because they were part of an already-released series. There weren't any previous Disney Princess Learning Adventures to the one that got cancelled.

Also, I'm not sure whether the Disney Princess one would have included any original animation. The previous Disney Princess videos didn't and neither did the Learning Adventures with Mickey Mouse. There was a trailer for it (along with the Disney Princess Sing Along Songs: Volume 3) on the following DVDs:

Sing Along Songs: You Can Fly!
Sing Along Songs: The Bare Necessities
Sing Along Songs: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Sing Along Songs: Pongo & Perdita
A Very Playhouse Disney Holiday
The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories
Disney Princess: A Christmas of Enchantment
The Muppet Movie: Kermit's 50th Anniversary Edition
The Muppet Christmas Carol: Kermit's 50th Anniversary Edition
Muppet Treasure Island: Kermit's 50th Anniversary Edition
The Great Muppet Caper: Kermit's 50th Anniversary Edition

It may be on other DVDs too but these are the ones I'm sure of. So far, I haven't been able to track the trailer down. Maybe someone who owns one of these DVDs can upload it for us.

I count "Stand by Me" because it was released in theaters as a standalone short. I don't count "You'll Never Lose This Love" because it's merely a clip from the shelved Kingdom of Kindness feature. It's no different from the song sequences in the Follow Your Dreams feature.

Of course, that's just my reasoning. There's no right or wrong with these things. You can totally include it if you want.

I've seen the trailer because I own all of these DVDs! xD (except the Playhouse Disney Holiday)

But I have no idea how to upload DVD content...

Oh! I didn't know it was released in theaters! Thanks for the info!

Does it feature any new animation? Can you take pics?

No, there’s no new animation in the trailer, but I took some pics:

I think the picture of Cinderella with the giant crown is from Cinderella 2, but I’m not 100% sure right now…

Thanks for the list, Sotiris! I hadn’t seen some of those shorts before!

But, there’s something I don’t understand. Why are those four specific shorts from House of Mouse included and not the rest of the shorts from the same tv series?

Because they were shown as cartoons before films at the cinemas - with other words they had cinema premieres :)
