I know it seems odd to start an topic about this, considering that "Hannah Montana" isn't relevant anymore. But I still wanted to give my thoughts about the here.
I know I've previously stated that I actually used to watch and enjoy "Hannah Montana" despite being a deliberate manufactured product for girls. However, if there's one huge flaw to adress with the show, is the characterization of Miley Stewart herself.
During the seasons/epsiodes, she developed to be a selfish, ruthless and reckless bitch. A ficitional character doesn't need to strive for perfection to be identifiable. On the contrary, it makes a character relatable. But Miley took it to another level and was quite ruthless and went huge lenghts to accomplish her will. Even when it was at the expense of the people around her. I know she was a teenager and there are worse fictional sitcom characters than her. But Miley was still a calluous bitch.
The worst part is despite regretting her actions and making up for them, she still was as inconsiderate at the next episodes. If there's one thing I actually liked about the movie, is that Lilly told Miley exactly what a person she was and even got back at her (deservedly so). Unfortunately the movie never went to enhance their relationship and Miley still bossed over Lilly.
For all the hype and popularity "Hannah Montana" got, it's baffles me that a such a show aimed at girls and centered about morals/lessons, had such a deliberately outrageous protagonist. Even Lizzie McGuire, who was aimed at the same demographic, was a better role model, despite being quite flawed herself (although Lizzie could be callous with the people around her, she still never was a outrageous as Miley). I know I'm not the first who's ranted about Miley Stewart's characterization, but still.

I never watched Hannah Montana, actually. I believe I've only seen a couple episodes of most live-action shows on the Disney Channel. I actually didn't mind Lizzie McGuire too much, and it looks even better in comparison to what was to come.
Mostly I watched when they used to re-run episodes of Growing Pains and Boy Meets World.
It's depressing to even think of the DC these days. I used to watch it when I was young; I remember it changing so much around the time I was in middle school. Even Nickelodeon isn't the same. Cartoon Network is a little better than those two. I get that being older skews your perception of what a newer generation will like, but they just don't seem to have as much as the '90s did.

Listening to most often lately:
Christina Aguilera ~ "Cruz"
Sombr ~ "homewrecker"
Megan Moroney ~ "Beautiful Things"

I used to watch Lizzie McGuire when it aired, considering that I was a teenager in the early 2000's. And I thought Hilary Duff was hot (and quite likable). So I have fond, nostalgic memories of "Lizzie McGuire". It's funny how Miley and "Hannah Montana" have always drawn comparisons to Hilary and Lizzie, despite being different shows (although they still has the same archetypical components). Although "Lizzie" had it's prime, I felt "Hannah Montana" was even more overexposed to every degree. And milked for all it was worth (yes, I know I've ranted about the movie, but since Disney wanted a forth season, why not make it when the last season being actually over? Considering how contrived the ending was and the fourth season actually concluding the same way as the movie did)Disney's Divinity wrote:I never watched Hannah Montana, actually. Wow, I thought my tread was dead and buried!
Haha! Though it doesn't add much to the discussion about Miley's characterization. However, a response is good enough, though. Haha!

Well... She has had episodes where she realized she was inconsiderate, especially when she got mad at a boy she was going out with because he was always talking to his dad on the phone. But then she realized how mean she was for blowing her own dad off and apologized to him for it.
Also, in the series finale, she could've easily chosen to film the movie she was cast in, but instead decided to be a good friend and join Lily at college.

Okay, fair enough.
I'm not slamming her entirely, since she often apologized for her mistakes and did the right thing at the end. The problem is that despite her learning her lessons, she still was a inconsiderate bitch at the next episode. She often went huge lenghts to get her will, even at the expense of her family and friends.
