Favorite Character, Scene and Song in Hercules
Character: Megara. Sort of proto-Elsa and the first Disney heroine with a "history". I just love her dry humor, her design, and Susan Egan's voice. And that character arc of gradually opening to caring about and accepting being cared for by someone after being deeply hurt is just done wonderfully. All of that makes her very relatable.
Scene: Hercules fighting the Hydra; Megara sarificing herself to save Hercules, and Hercules diving into the 'pool of souls' to save Megara's.
Song: "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)".

Scene: Hercules saving Meg. I also like when Hercules makes the deal with Hades to give up his strength for the day, 'Going Once! Going Twice!'
Song: Agreeing with Mooky all the way - 'I won't say I'm in love'

Re: Favorite Character, Scene and Song in Hercules
Character : Meg. She's smart, sassy and flawed, with a history of love and loss. As you guys have said, she goes through a huge journey of opening up and learning to trust and love again after disappointment. She is voiced to utter perfection by Susan Egan, and her one liners are some of my favourite from any Disney film, "I'm a damsel, I'm in distress, I can handle this. Have a nice day", "They think you're the greatest thing since they put the pocket in pita", "Megara. My friends call me Meg. At least, they would if I had any friends", "Well you know how men are, they think no means yes and get lost means 'take me I'm yours'". She's just superb !
Scene : Megs death/rescue. Wonderfully animated, and the emotional depth of the loss of Meg and the nature of being a true hero are beautifully realised in this scene.
Song : I Won't Say I'm In Love. One of my most favourite Disney songs of ALL TIME. It is just superb in every way; Susan's vocal, the muses, the lyrics and music are all fabulous. One of Disney's greatest female songs (I can't say Princess, but female vocally led maybe ?!)

Re: Favorite Character, Scene and Song in Hercules
I guess we're all on the same page here.
Character: Megara. It's difficult to pick one, since I find Megara/Hercules/Hades to be such a strong cast (this is why I enjoy M&C, because I feel that way about most of their films), but Megara was my favorite Disney female character--that wasn't a villain--until Tiana came around. I still love her though. I remember talking to my mother about Hercules before, and how much I loved that film when I was young, and she told me she hated Meg.
My mother hates a lot of things I love though. *tear*
Scene: Definitely the scene where Hercules dives into the pool for Megara. I also love the scene where the Titans have just been released. "Zero to Hero" is given a deservingly phenomenal scene, too, imo.
Song: "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)," with "Zero to Hero" very close behind. I adore all the songs the Muses have a part in, really. "Go the Distance" is a very weak song, lyrically, but it has a very nice melody, imo.
Hercules is still in my top 3 Disney films after all this time. <3

Re: Favorite Character, Scene and Song in Hercules
One of my favorite underrated Disney movies. It's tone is similar to Aladdin, but I happen to like it more.
Character: Megara for the same reasons as Mooky
Scene: Everything with the Muses (they really make the movie for me)
Song: I Won't Say I'm in Love (combines Megara and the Muses...what more needs to be said

Re: Favorite Character, Scene and Song in Hercules
It really DOES seem like everyone is in complete agreement here.
Megara is STILL my favorite Disney gal. I love Hades, I love Herc and I even think PHIL has a great arc. It's amazing how these two hardened cynics are melted by Hercules's innocence. I don't see how people could hate this movie. It has such heart. It's way more emotional for me than Aladdin, with which it is almost always negatively compared.
Character: Megara. For all the reasons listed.
Scene: Hercules saving Megara from the River Styx. Dramatic, tense, superbly scored. And the payoff always leaves me teary-eyed.
Song: I Won't Say I'm in Love. Again, for all the reasons listed. It's just a great song. A real toe-tapper that gives our heroine a startling depth.

Character: Meg
Scene: When baby Hercules and baby Pegasus meet, when Hercules first meets Meg, the Hydra scene, "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)," "I'm an action figure!," when Hercules learns that Meg was in cahoots with Hades, when Hercules chooses Meg over being a god.
Song: "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)," but I love "Go the Distance"

Character: Meg. I love the tough girl in the vein of Barbara Stanwick. It just seemed so different at the time. Susan Egan really nailed the sarcasm", but also the transformation from jaded to smitten.
Scene: Go the Distance. I love the colors.
Song: Zero to Hero
Hercules really is an underrated gem. I love the way they handled the Muses as gospel singers. There are also some great jokes as well, e.g., "Someone call IX I I!" Or Thebes as "The Big Olive" complete with the guy in the trench coat selling sundials - lol.

Re: Favorite Character, Scene and Song in Hercules
Character: Hades! Such a cool villain.
But I also like Megara and Hercules. Hercules is so naive and sweet, while Megara is the opposite - smart, funny in a clever way and with more experience. (The voice actors are really great in this movie!)
Scene: I Won't Say (I'm In Love), including the talk Megara and Hercules have just before the song.
Song: Go The Distance. Especially it's reprise!
I love the melody and just wish the song could have been a little more upbeat, like the reprise. The pop version is really epic. It makes me a little sad that Alan Menken had to make the score in a gospel style, as opposed to his desire to make it a really classic and dramatic score.
Alan Menken on the music in Hercules: ("Hercules") "was my first opportunity working with Greek mythology in a musical context. When we started out I was thinking we would write a very classically influenced score; thus the musical style of our lamented cut song, “Shooting Star”. But the request from John and Ron was to have this be a “gospel” score. I asked them “Why gospel?” And their logic was, “Gospel music is written to sing about God, just as our Hero is one of “the gods”. Okay… I was skeptical. But I was game to try anything. In the end, I think that choice worked well." http://www.alanmenken.com
