Fox and the Hound 2 "put down"!

Just a brief note, but I've read

Disney Toons just put a stop to "Fox and the Hound II" - Stainton didn't like Act I.

So there you go all you Stainton haters. Not only are Disney not going ahead with a (assumed) "lackluster" cheapquel, but Stainton himself stopped it.

supposedly this feature was to be about Todd & Copper meeting up with the crew from Dumbo in a nearby circus...

gee I wonder why it was shut down... maybe this means Dumbo II is out of the way aswell!

Uhm, don't see why everyone is cheering on this. This could have been a good movie, we didn't even see anything of it! Anyway, what is your source 2099net?

I very much doubt it was to be a crossover.

Disney does need crossovers though. I want a Tarzan / Team Atlantis crossover. Both come from the same period in history (give or take) and given some of the later "wacky" Tarzan tales, Team Atlantis would fit right in!

i really dont like the idea of two movies in a crossover. the only time when i have seen this was in a Hercules TV show episode where Jafar teams up with Hades to get rid of both Alddin and Hercules.

IMO NO Crossover.
I also saw the Hercules and Aladdin Crossover it was ok the plot was weak.

Fox and the Hound and Dumbo crossover no way leave the animated classics alone.
These films are not superheroes to make crossover with them.
I would rather see a Spider-Man and Daredevil crossover movie.

right on! lol.... crossovers can be good

But I wasnt kidding about Dumbo and Fox and the Hound (as redicolous as it may sound), it was actually the idea to make it like this for quit some time. I think I read about that a while back, on the same forum you did.. animationnation.com some funny people over there btw

I just remembered I hated the Touched By an Angel and Promised Land crossovers.
I'd hate a Dumbo/Fox and the Hound one. OK for a TV series, but not a movie.

Wasn't there a sequel to the original book, "The Fox and the Hound"? I thought it was an original story, but was a companion to "Fox and the Hound" with cameos by Todd and Copper.

I don't know how this turned into a "crossovers" thread, but while we are at it, the comic book collector in me can't resist a good crossover (and sometimes a bad one). I love the HoM concept, and would love to see more Disney crossovers.

Where would Green Arrow be today if he didn't crossover with Lantern in #76 of the previous GL series? I ask you! WHERE??

As for the Fox and Hound sequel, I'm not sure I see enough scope there for one anyway. It is interesting Stainton himself stopped it. I only hope there is not some ulterior motive in his stopping, such as it was "too 2D" or something.

I just hope that the last castle of 2D doesn't fall under the weight of the 3D mandate.

Haha. The Fox and the Hound II? Better they waste their time with that than with a sequel to one of the better movies. I did like The Fox and the Hound, though.
Speaking of crossovers . . . I'm not opposed to them, but I think they're a little disturbing. I mean, the thing about cartoon characters is that they're supposed to live in their own little world. If they can cross over to each other's worlds, who's to say they can't come into ours?

scary thought. Anyway, "The Rugrats meet The Wild Thornberries" turned me off of that genre for good . . .

i really enjoy your avatar Loomis. i am a huge fan of the Halloween series (number one is by far my all time favorite!...i'm saving up for the 25th anniversary edition). it didn't hit me until like a week ago that "Dr. Loomis" may have been your inspiration for the alias. Kudos to you for such a cool name! which one is your favorite.....i hope it was NOT Halloween III!!!!!!

The only reason I don't like sequels (cheapquels) 1 they make it just for a fast buck and don't put good effort into the movie. If they made it like the Lion King 1 1/2 it could be good. 2 it ruins the orignal idea that Walt made. They are just ruining out of ideas so they do sequels off of everything. 3. I don't like sequels because the voices are different and not the same. If they bring back the same cast like the Lion King 1 1/2 then it would probally be ok if they just did good antimation and plot and so forth.
