Nottingham & Hood (Live-Action)

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Robin Hood Now A Race As Disney Acquires Spec ‘Nottingham & Hood’
http://deadline.com/2014/12/robin-hood- ... 201309689/
Is the venerable rogue do-gooder Robin Hood becoming the “It” guy in Hollywood? Disney has acquired the Brandon Barker spec Nottingham & Hood, a revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend for Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman to produce through The Picture Company. This follows Sony staking a claim to Sherwood Forest as it bought a pitch by Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott earlier this fall for high price. I’m told that Nottingham & Hood has a Pirates Of The Caribbean tone and the hope is to launch a new adventure franchise that fits Disney’s global brand

Is Robin Hood really that popular though? The Robin Hood movie by Ridley Scott did not do very well at the box office. I'm afraid this might be another Prince of Persia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, John Carter or The Lone Ranger for Disney... I would rather see live-action movies based on Aladdin, Hercules, Mulan and other Disney action adventures...
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful

Personally, I'd be interested in a Davy Crockett revival. One that isn't as pointlessly gritty as many of these movies end up being, and allow for the fun of the original episodes without delving into Bayesque stupid humor.

I hope they go the "fun and swashbuckling" route, rather than the epic and serious route - definitely would love to see Davy Crockett make a comeback too.

Me, too. I don't think I've ever seen a RH film I've really liked.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Have you seen the 1938 Errol Flynn? It's a classic, among my favorites.

I haven't seen Disney's live-action version from the 50's, but from what I can gather, it's around the same tone as well.

I really would be down for a fun swashbuckler, as long as it isn't another attempt by Disney to recreate the Bruckheimer/POTC mold. It peaked, Disney- try something else!
