Jim Lange Hits the Bullseye to Heaven

Post by danielshooley »

Radio personality Jim Lange, best known for his 15-year stint as the original host of "The Dating Game," died last Tuesday, February 25, 2014 of a Massive Heart Attack at his home in Mill Valley, California. Jim was 81 years old.

Born on August 15, 1932 in St. Paul, Minnesota, James John Lange began his radio career at age 15 after winning a successful audition to become a radio Sports Announcer. His radio career lasted nearly 60 years until his 2005 retirement.

"TV happened by accident," said Jim in a 1991 radio interview, referring to his stint as "Dating Game" host.

In addition to "The Dating Game," Jim hosted a number of other TV game shows such as "Bullseye" & "The $100,000 Name That Tune." Fellow radio personality & Game Show Legend Wink Martindale recalled Jim as "a gentleman pro, in every sense of the word," per his Facebook page, and was "saddened beyond words" to learn of his friend Jim's sudden demise.

God Bless, Jim. May you forever be hitting the Bullseye in Heaven.
