Which celebs have you met?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Ok, inspired by the convention thread...

Which celebrities have you met? (Granted, celebrity is a relative term, but as a general rule... local newscasters don't count :P )

Hmm, let me think. I've met...

Amy Grant
Vince Gill
Ben Stein
Ann Coulter
Laurie Dhue
Joyce Meyer
The guy who broke the story on John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban (ok, so maybe he doesn't count)
Politicians
Bill Coby
Elaine Marshall
Cass Ballenger

People I've had a conversation/interaction with, but not so much a formal face-to-face meeting...

Rush Limbaugh
Craig Kilborn

Ok, I think that's all. If I remember any more, I'll post them. Also, one of my really good friends' dad is kinda famous, lol.

LOTR celebs:

Elijah Wood (Frodo)
Sean Astin (Sam)
Billy Boyd (Pippin)
Dominic Monahan (Merry)
Andy Serkis (Gollum)
Richard Taylor (Head of Weta Workshop)
A slew of SFX people from Weta . . .

Also:
Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett - Original Trilogy)
David Prowse (Darth Vader - Original Trilogy)
Kenny Baker (R2-D2)
Tony Gwynn (Former player of San Diego Padres)

Kinda sorta Angeline Jolie (basically, it was a deal where you went up, gut an autograph and left immediatly. So I guess I didn't really meet her)

Lilo: I'm not touching you!
Stitch: TOUCHING ME!

Soap stars: Finola Hughes, Rebecca Budig, Alicia Minshew, Brian Presley, Nancy Lee Grahn.

And while I don't remember it, my mom has proof that I had gotten Cher's autograph when I was 3 years old in Atlantic City.

Are you Mormon by any chance? Just asking...

Anyway, when I was 8 me, my mom and my sister went to a Star Trek convention and I met this kid and we became friends. We were sitting down while Garret Wong from Star Trek: Voyager was making a speech and we started making fart noises, and he was getting distracted. "I'm sorry folks, but there's this fart boy in the front row." Suddenly after his speech, I became friends with him and both me and the other kid got his autograph and E-Mail address. The next day I lost it :x

Can't think of any movie, tv stars.

Sports: List is pretty much endless. Met Michael Jordan when he was doing his "baseball thing" with the White Sox. I got a copy of his autobiography "Rare Air" autographed & personalized. I met Bobby Hull when he was appearing with a baseball fantasy camp & got a hockey stick signed. As for baseball players, with spring training here in Florida, fantasy camps, celebrity pro-am golf tournaments I've met most of the older (& many now deceased) members of the Hall of Fame (DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Ted Williams etc...). Even met a few golfers (Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, no Tiger Woods though). I got the 1983 Topps baseball card set completely autographed (792 cards which took 3 years) so practically every player from the 70's, 80's I had the pleasure of meeting (Pete Rose, Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Cal Ripken Jr. etc...). You don't meet many movie stars around here but you can't beat it for athletes.

Looks like a who's who of FoxNews. Was Rush popping Oxycontins like M&Ms or was it post rehab?
I've always admired Ben Stein though I've never agreed with his views. Love him in everything he's acted in (especially of course Ferris Bueller).
Ann Coulter-aka the antichrist. Did you check her for three sixes?

Easy, now... wasn't looking to start a debate. I'll just overlook your comments about my role models :). I didn't actually meet Rush, though... you modified my list. He's not in the Fox News brotherhood, and Ann and Ben only make occasional appearances. Laurie Dhue, however, is straight up FNC.

No, not looking to start a liberal/conservative debate though thinking about Rush did remind me of a few celebrities I'd met outside of sports (one of his favorite as he calls them "feminazis" Janet Reno at a campaign rally which unfortunately didn't lead to the ouster of Jeb). Also met Dubya & Dad when he owned the Texas Rangers when they trained here in Port Charlotte. Got Bush41's autograph but sold it as I don't care for him. Didn't ask for Dubya's autograph (not sure if he was off the sauce & nose candy yet). I could understand many of them being role models except for Rush (throw all the drug addicts in jail but me) Limbaugh & Ann (everyone who isn't a conservative is unpatriotic) Coulter.

Well I try my hardest to not debate politics on message boards, as it just takes too much time and in the end, doesn't really matter. So we can just agree to disagree :).

There's a man in my town who looks like Sean Connery. I've seen him a few times, but never heard him speak. So he could be Sean Connery.

Come to think of it, I've never seen him and Sean Connery together at the same time...
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
