Wow. That IS massive news!
(Notice how I feigned surprise and awe, even though 2099 told me about this only 5 minutes ago on AIM and I'm like soooo over it by now).

Seriously, this is going to make the wait unil May all the harder.
INTRO MICKY AND THE BEANSTALK
Looks like someone gets their wish! And it confirms THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE as well. Looks like this will be pretty complete.

Lots of 'stereotype' and uncharacteristic behaviour' supps - looks like Leonard had his work cut out for him this year, especially with the the Frontlines one too!
BONUS: EASTER EGG - THE VOLUNTEER WORKER
This seems to be a wartime short - it is a 2.5 minute " trailer created for the Community Chest " according to Disney Shorts.

Anyhoo, it all looks brilliant.

Good find, Netty.

DON'T DO THAT! If it's an official Disney VHS, than it will have a greater value than any DVD ever will...

What, are those old VHS' worth anything in America? I have bought several from Ebay thru the years. I guess I still got Blackbeard's Ghost, Snowball Express, Bednkob and Broomsticks, and that old Limited Edition Donald VHS

I liked buying them because they reminded me of those clamshels that the movies had when I was a kid. 8)

If this does indeed indicate the contents of Region 1, I most look forward to the Easter Egg of the Standard Parade (1939). I have never seen this, although I would expect it to show up on the "On The Front Lines" DVD set, instead.

It would also be nice to have a DVD quality copy of The Volunteer Worker (1940). My video copy is "OK" but I would love to have a nicer copy.

So far the European sets that have been released seem to be the same as the R1 copies (apart from the uncensored Three Little Pigs on some (all?) European releases).

As for the Standard Parade, looking at the reuse of elements from other sets, it could just as easy be on "Frontlines" as well.

What "stereotypes could they be refering to in the Nifty Nineties shorts? The only controversial things I remember are a drunken father, a trace outline of a naked lady, and can-can girls. Could these stereotypes be more than just racial?

I recall the drunken husband slide segment being previously cut from tv broadcast at one point, possibly home video too so I'd imagine that would likely be what it's referancing.

An interesting note. It appears that the running times for the Maltin stereotype introductions for all the Donald cartoons are different. Maybe he will have something unique to say in each one in place of the same thing on each cartoon, like they did for several of the Mickey Mouse in Black and White. Same appears to hold with Mickey Mouse intros Volume 2.

i heard that there are two versions of mickey and the beanstalk. i guess one of the versions has real people talking around a table or something, kind of narrating the story. does anyone know if this will be that version or the cartoon-only version that i'm used to?
