Looking for: The Reluctant Dragon

Post by drfsupercenter »

Anyone have the DMC Exclusive version of this they will part with? The only one I'm seeing on eBay, the guy wants $90 for it which is just absurd for a single movie, IMO.

If anyone does have it, name your price, I'll totally buy if it's reasonable.

The DMC version isn't the full 68-minute movie, but the 20-minute cartoon.

The full movie is only available in "Walt Disney Treasures: Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studios."

The short cartoon is also available on "Walt Disney Animation Collection - Volume 6: The Reluctant Dragon" and "Walt Disney's It's a Small World of Fun! - Volume 4 (1934-1953)."

But I'm guessing you want it simply to see what kind of video ident plays on the DMC DVD?

Actually the DMC version is the full length version. It's sadly no longer available through The Disney Movie Club and it was one of the first club exclusives that was available. It's now been replaced with the Walt Disney Animation Collection. I know at one point it was the full length because I owned it and watched it. The length listed on the link below is 74 minutes though when You click buy it, you are linked to The Disney Movie Club Sign up and if you search for it, the search results in the Volume 6 of the Walt Disney Animation Collection

Here's a link to the page on amazon where it shows the cover of the DVD that was avaialbe through Disney Movie Club. It was about when Tall Tale was still a DMC Exclusive

My mistake, lol. I must have been confusing it with "Donald in Mathmagic Land" as DMC released an exclusive DVD of that, and it runs only 27 minutes.

Yeah, I thought it had the full version.

I realize it's part of the Disney Treasures set but I'm almost worried that it won't be as good quality since they tend to cram loads and loads of features on those discs, which means lower bitrate overall.

Amazon seems to have about the same prices as eBay, shame. The movie isn't really worth $70+ IMO. Just hoping someone here has it and wouldn't mind parting with it...

According to the Animated Views review, it's the same transfer as found on the Treasures DVD. It also mentions the disc is single-layer.

(For the record, the Treasures DVD - Disc 1 - runs 2 hours and 3 minutes).

The entire full length version of this is currently on Netflix as an alternative to buying the DVD.

Also keep patrolling eBay and Amazon.com as every once in a while someone will list one at a significantly lower price then others are offering it for.
