A Disneyland in Africa?

Post by WarriorDreamer »

Do you think, realistically speaking, there could ever be a Disneyland in Africa? It may be quite cool to have one in Egypt. Africa is such a HUGE continet, there are soon to be TWO Disneylands in China and two in America, but none in Africa.

What do you think about this possibility one day?

Does Africa attract enough tourists each year to make a park like Disneyland a success? And even then, are the current group of tourists travelling to the continent the kind of people who'd want to go to Disneyland? China has an enormous population and Hong Kong has long been established as a major international city. I don't see Africa ever having a Disneyland, at least not in the foreseeable future.

Yeah, they would have to sort the poverty out first of course. ;) I guess it isn't enough of a tourist-y place to go. But who knows, one day it might be. There are lots of wonderful places in Africa, the richer areas they could put it in. It's a VERY far off dream though.

I don't think the continent itself has enough people who could afford Disney vacations as to make the park profitable. Also are any of the governments/infrastructures stable enough to host a theme park resort?

UAE feels like the most sensible choice, really.

I don't think the world is ready for Disneyland in the Middle East.
