Babes in Toyland Blu-Ray

Post by Barbossa »

Don't know if this happened on the US version but it is on the Canadian. Noticed a sticker on the outside wrapper that covered the Technical Specifications and credits. Looked at it for a bit to see what was mis-printed: the aspect ratio. The sticker has Wide Screen while the cover sheet has full screen on it. Haven't popped it in to see which one it is but I'm guessing wide screen.

HTF posted a review and it's 1.66:1 widescreen with apparently great picture quality. No bonus features, though.

They probably ran off the covers before Disney caught on to the error about the aspect ratio (they originally listed the Blu-ray as 1:33 before changing it to 1:66).

I'm definitely buying the Blu-ray because having this gem in Hi Def will be a treat, but cannot deny that Disney really dropped the ball for extras on this disc. Where's "Backstage Party" and "The Titlemakers"? Surely it wouldn't have been a big job to include those?

Mine arrived from Amazon about an hour ago. Back cover does list it as fullscreen 1.33:1 but it is widescreen and GORGEOUS. Not so much as a trailer on it. It's like an original Disney dvd. Surprised that they don't list the subtitles as a "special feature". Makes Dick Tracy look loaded (with it's few trailers). But the movie is absolutely beautiful & it even had DMR points even though they didn't put the symbol on the cover.

Beautiful film presentation! We are lucky to have it!

But the exclusion of "Backstage Party," "Titlemakers," and a theatrical trailer is pretty much unforgivable.

"The Truth About Mother Goose" from the same era would have made a nice supplement too. Or how about "Disney Family Album: Annette Funicello"?

Why can't/won't they ask someone who knows what to do? A two-minute call...

It seems like no store was carrying it. I went to Best Buy, Walmart, and Toys R' Us the week of release and none of them had it (I went though each store with a fine-toothed comb spending 15-20 minutes in each just looking for it). Perhaps it'll show up after the Holidays.

Same here! And when I ask someone about it, I get a blank stare lol. :(

Was released in Australia on the 5th December - I've not been able to find it in-store here either. Very disappointing.

Online; Amazon, of course, carries it and any number of other online retailers (Overstock, DVD Planet, etc.). Target, Best Buy, DisneyStore, and WalMart online have it (but not, apparently, in the actual stores). Barnes and Noble online has it, not sure if it's in-store.

Physically, Fry's and Amoeba have had it in-store here in LA.

A shame -- I'm sure it would spontaneously sell if located in-store at the Big Box retailers, especially as a Christmas item. They should try again with extras and a slipcover.

Amazon has it for $17.28 but when it came out it was $14.99.
I wanted it to be that price. :(
I mean I know it's not that much of a difference but still! Amazon makes enough money as it is lol. :D

I found stupid Dick Tracy and Heavy Weight in Best Buy but not Babes in Toyland. I want it so bad. I guess I will just get it from Amazon

Yeah, I'll probably just grab it online but I'm so used to going into stores to buy my Disney titles.

I ordered mine off Amazon and on the shrinkwrap there's a sticker with the correct technical specifications (1.66:1 widescreen) on it.

Does this come with a slip cover?
I ordered it from Amazon and when I opened the movie it had finger prints on the Blu-ray and it seemed like it was used! :(
It also did not come with a movie rewards code as well.
It is a legit Blu-ray but I think it was uses and repackaged :(
Should I complain and make them send me another Blu-ray?

I bought mine when it was newly released back in December and it did not come with a slipcover, and I don't think it was ever issued with one.
