Politics! Politics, and Beyond

Post by disneyboy20022 »

Okay, the election is over. Now hopefully they can do their job, and not be in a deadlock or filibusters on every bill, besides making food Like Pizza a Veggie.

Let's be civil, and respectful of one another in this thread. No Trolling please, and follow the rules that exist in this community.

Also this is an interesting news article.

I just hope this doesnt end up being a repeat of the first term in that-not to point fingers-it did seem that certain people who openly opposed obama tried to keeo anything he suggested from being passed, even stuff that they'd agree with when suggested by one of their own.

Both Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney have shown a lot of class with the outcome so far, and I hope we can all take our cues from them and act in kind.

How the election would have turned out if only white men voted.

I've seen a couple different sites do this, and I chose to share this one because it is nicely organized and shows you how the election would have turned out if women and minorities didn't have the right to vote. To me, this proves just how prevalent racism and sexism is in the US. But more importantly, its a reminder about how important voting is, especially to minorities who are often less represented in government. It's our voice.

The Republicans have not been showing any class to their loss, unfortunately. Most talking heads have been saying exactly the same thing as Romney's 47 percent slip-up--basically calling Americans that voted for Obama lazy. Not to mention the way they've been lambasting Chris Christie. They sure are patriotic, aren't they? Insulting the American people and the President at once. Any excuse but to accept that their extremist views do not sit well with most people; they could probably get away with being homophobic (give it another 10-20 years), but people aren't going to give them a free pass for being sexist and racist anymore. If it had just been economic issues, I believe there would have been a stronger chance they would have won.

I quoted this simply because it's an examination but with regards to the report itself:

I think voters in general tend to vote for a candidate for reasons that are far from the biggest priorities right now in this country. In HS they would hold mock elections in History Class when the elections would come up. How you would vote is by on a sheet of paper that listed each candidate's personal beliefs but each were nameless and which ever candidate's beliefs you agreed with most, you voted for. Now, many many of the things that were listed had nothing to do with the biggest priorities in the country (Economy, Health Care, Education, etc) but things that were simply personal beliefs and things that shouldn't even be a priority.

I voted for Obama because I feel he's on the right track to taking care of Economic, Health Care, and Educational issues. I was thrilled when he freed some states from the grips of NCLB. That's a very good thing, IMO.

Actually, there is now 20 wanting to secede peacefully, due to the results of people not liking the outcome of the election apparently....
