Disney Villain Merchandise:

Post by ProfessorRatigan »

Hey, gang! I wanted to created a thread devoted exclusively to Disney Villain merchandise that any of you may have found over the years, stumbled upon online, etc., and showcase them here!

One thing I've had on my mind lately are figurines. Not the WDCC higher-end stuff, but the older less-detailed figurines sold in Disneystores in the 90s.

The reason I loved those so much is because most every time, the villain also got a figurine! Check these examples out:

URSULA:Image

GASTON: Image

JAFAR: Image

SCAR: Image

RATCLIFFE: Image

Frollo had one, too, but sadly, I can't find an image of him. :( (He seems to be VERY rare. I know, I've been on the hunt for his for nearly two years...)

Hades: Image

-And so on. The Renaissance characters weren't the only ones who got figurines, either. The older villains also got figurines.

I'm having a harder time tracking down images of them, so I'll only post the ones I CAN find later.

I have the Ursula figurine, although I've always thought it was kind of ugly. I also have a very gorgeous and detailed Ursula figurine that comes with a watch of her and Flotsam and Jetsam in her famous curled up and calculating pose. The only missing is her beauty mark on the right side of her mouth, but they even have 8 tentacles (like an octopus should have). They both came in a tin with a smoky blue/green image of nearly all the Disney villains together. I found these pictures on Google:

I have a lot of other Ursula merchandise. There are also some gorgeous things that I don't have that I plan to get of her one day, but I would rather not point them out because the less people who remember them the easier it might be for me to find them later on.

^That's actually very clever! Several of these are exceptionally hard to find on ebay and such. I do wonder on those tins, if they made one for each villain pictured. I see Medusa, Gaston and Ratigan depicted, and that gives me hope they might exist out there in the world! I know I've seen Hades around (and want him so bad!), but it's always so expensive on ebay.

A few more:

Queen of Hearts: Image

Maleficent: Image

I know there were more, though. I'd seen Shere Khan, Prince John, Sir Hiss and the aforementioned Frollo in the past. I'm not sure whether or not Shan Yu or Clayton ever got any. (I couldn't find anything on them) And a lot of the dark age villains got the shaft. (My poor, poor Professor Ratigan among them...) I also recall a bunch of villains on music-boxes? Perhaps someone could track down photos of each of those? I know that Cruella, Ursula, Maleficent and the Queen all had figurines like that.

EDIT: Here's the Hades w/ watch I was talking about: Image

I got this at the Disney Store in 2001, which we actually did have in Australia, before they closed completely a few years after. For only $50 i couldn't not but it!

@ProfessorRatigan - Extra points for Maleficent! I believe they had one of her in this series too.

I can't help it, I love me some Disney Villains. They just have such a knack for creating memorable baddies. Their rogues are so damn colorful, it's hard NOT to like them. :)

I, for some reason, cannot get the image to show up for him, (I guess I just have bad luck with Ratcliffe) but I saw this: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/D-ARGENTA-Disney ... ~60_57.JPG

-on ebay earlier and my jaw hit the floor. I don't even LIKE Ratcliffe, but WHOA. The price was $599, though. :o

I don't honestly know why Disney doesn't make more of a feature of them, bar at Halloween ? I'm not sure they realise how popular they actually are ....

I had these really nice figurines of the Evil Queen, Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella that my grammy got me back at the Disney store in the 90's. They were like this:

Image

Unfortunately my brother knocked them off of my dresser and broke them lol. I still haven't completely forgiven him. I still have them but they're broken pretty badly the Queen's head is MIA, Maleficent's hands are gone. Ursula's stand is completely destroyed, Cruella is the only one who survived with only a few minor injuries. I've found them online and I might buy them someday.

Over the summer I bought a pretty good amount of villain things. On the Disney store website they had the villains drink ware set. The Queen, Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella all had these really nice big 20 oz. mugs with images of them in their films all around. I also got a ceramic coffee thermos tumbler, a plastic tumbler with a straw and a water bottle with all 4 of them on and I got a reusable bag with all of them on it to lol.

Image

I also got these ornaments of the villains online to. I got Ursula, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Queen of Hearts. They're so cute:

Image

I got a Jim Shore Maleficent figure at Hallmark on sale for $35 which I love.

Image

And I bought an Evil Queen shirt from Hot Topic.

WOW. Only $35 for the Maleficent? What a bargain! That one is regularly priced at around $80 on Jim Shore's website. I have his Captain Hook/Mr. Smee statue. He also has a lovely Ursula figurine, my friend actually owns that one. He also has a figurine of Lucifer from Cinderella, the Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp, a dual-sided Evil Queen/Hag statue, a different Maleficent with her and her Dragon-form back-to-back, a Cruella De Vil, and some ornaments of the villains, too. He also had a 'villain castle' with Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar, Scar, Shere Khan, Cruella, Hook, Tic-Tock and Hades on it.

I actually contacted Mr. Shore a few weeks ago and asked if he had any plans to do more villain pieces, (specifically I asked if he'd consider doing Professor Ratigan, Gaston or Jafar) and he replied to me saying a Jafar 'would be a great next step' for his villain line. So, we can look forward to that happening sometime in the future. :) [/img]

and of the Bar scene of Disney Villains, there's House of Mouse DTV which is the closest thing we'll get to that actually animated.

^ Yeah, I got that book for Christmas one year when I was very young. @ProfRatigan: That Radcliffe figurine is gorgeous, and like you I don’t even like him.

Here’s an ornament series Hallmark had going back in the ‘90s that I don’t know if many people knew about. The series ended with only 3 ornaments unfortunately, one released annually, that I would get on my birthday every year; I kept hoping they’d get to Ursula, but then they stopped with Cruella.

ImageImage

The Queen one is gorgeous, and Cruella also looks perfectly like herself.

Yeah I've seen his other pieces to. The Evil Queen one was in my Hallmark for a while. I love the tower with them all on it I wanna get it one day. Jafar is exciting! I feel like there isn't a lot of solo Jafar merchandise and he is my favorite male villain so I can't wait to see what he does with him. Also Ratigan would be really neat to. He's my second favorite male baddie.

There is a really nice website called Fantasiescometrue.com and they sell tons of merchandise on there. Problem is most of the good stuff is sold out but it's still a fun site to browse and see all the cool merchandise.

I have a TON of villains merchandise that I've collected over my life, but I currently don't have any pictures of it. So, here are a few pics online I found of things that I have:

Villains Snow Globe (Plays "Grim Grinning Ghosts" theme)
Image

Cruella Snow Globe (Plays "Cruella DeVil" theme)
Image

Evil Queen Snow Globe (Plays audio snippets from film)
Image

I received Maleficent, Cruella, and Evil Queen plates from my aunt over the course of a few birthdays. There is an Ursula one in the set, but she got them from a dealer who didn't have that one.

Image Image Image

This Maleficent Jim Shore statue is on my bedside table.

This Cruella doll based on Glenn Close from "101 Dalmatians"

Maleficent doll I got from Disney World

This is my collection, so far:

A Disneystore Prof Ratigan Plush: Image

A Sir Hiss plush that I found at Goodwill: Image

Scar Disneystore plush: Image

A mini-Scar plush I found at Wal-Mart during the recent Diamond Edition release: Image

Plus an even SMALLER mini-plush of him, also found at Wal-Mart: Image

I also have the figurine of Scar I posted above. As well as a Burger King kid's meal toy of him from 1994: Image

A Mattel figure of Jafar from 1992, though mine isn't in its package: Image

I have a 10 inch Frollo vinyl doll made by Applause in 1996, but can't really find a good picture of one anywhere... and my camera is currently out of commission, so I can't photograph mine. He's really, really cool, though. I also have a Mattel action figure of him from 1996. And a Burger King kid's meal figure of him somewhere, too.

I have the WDCC sculpture of Jafar, titled Villainous Vizier, which I got through Disney Movie Rewards. It's easily the best piece in my collection and I so plan on getting more in the future, when money isn't an issue.

As mentioned above, I own the Jim Shore Captain Hook/Mr. Smee sculpture titled Beware: Image

And the Ursula Disneystore doll and a Disneystore Shenzi plush.

Sorry for double-posting, but nobody else has posted anything, so I figured I'd get back on the horse and post a few things!

Check out these awesome animation maquettes!

Jafar: Image

Scar: Image

-These occasionally pop up on ebay. They're really expensive,
but really beautiful! I believe there also exists one of Gaston.
Perhaps someone could find a picture of that one? (I'd appreciate
having one on hand!)

Speaking of Gaston, check out this cool Gaston bendy-toy:
Image

-It was made by Justoys in 1991.

Here's a Scar vinyl-faced plush made by Applause from 1994: Image

I REALLY dig the stuff Applause made in the 90s.

There is also a 10 inch Jafar doll made by them: Image

And a 10 inch Gov. Ratcliffe figure: Image

And, ah, HERE is the Frollo applause figure I couldn't find a pic for earlier: Image

Applause also made similar figures for Hercules.
I've seen Herc, Meg, Pain, Panic and Phil all on ebay.
I have yet to see Hades, and therefore don't know if
one was even made of him. Was there? I'd LOVE to know.
(Also, I have a similar question for the Hunchback Applause
dolls, perhaps one of you might be able to answer it. It isn't villain
-related, but since we're on the subject: I've seen Quasimodo,
Frollo, Esmeralda, Phoebus and all three Gargoyles, but did the Jester
Clopin get an Applause vinyl doll? I LOVE that character and he has
VERY little merch surrounding him.)

I have the Jafar. He's gorgeous! Easily my favorite collectible.

As for the Cruella, she's on my most-wanted WDCCs along with these babies:

Image -Probably my MOST wanted, currently. Don't know why. Scar isn't even my favorite, but I just LOVE this sculpture.

-They're all so beautiful. :(

Pity they're all SO expensive.

I also forgot to include a framed picture of Ursula in my collection. It's really nice, but my damn camera is currently not working, otherwise I'd post a picture of it.

I don't know if you guys would know, but when I was younger, I remember being able to buy alternate clothing and outfits for my Disney dolls. Along wih the different outfits, you could also get different heads that you would put on your dolls to change their character! They werent so much heads I suppose ..... more like masks ? The set I remember was the Cinderella one, you could have both Lady Tremaine and the Fairy Godmother! Tremaine had the silk scarf that she wears in her hair for going to the ball attached to her mask so you see no join on the doll. And it seem to remember both masks had Disney Dust all over them as well ?! Sort of like glittery glue ?

I hope someone can remember these as well, and I just don't sound like a rambling loon!

I love those animation maquettes of Jafar and Scar. I have a plush Jafar and Scar I got back at the Disney store in the 90's. I also have The Old Peddlar, Maleficent, Ursula, Queen of Hearts, Cruella, Prince John and Hook plushes. And a pretty nice sized plush of Maleficent as a dragon. I also had these mugs one with Maleficent that said "I look good in black it matches my mood." and the Old Peddlar saying "I'm feeling wicked". They also had mugs for the Evil Queen, Cruella, Ursula and the Queen of Hearts. I also had this poster with Jafar, Shere Khan, Maleficent, Ursula, the Evil Queen and Medusa. I haven't seen another version of it anywhere but it was really, REALLY cool and it's rare to find Shere Khan and Medusa on merchandise.
