I forgot to mention, I am going to celebrate my birthday. On July 17, my actual birthday, that will be my first ever visiting the Magic Kingdom!

Woooww!!!!! Yaaaaaaayyyyy!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!! You really deserved to go and needed to go badly!!!!!

Goliath told me you felt destined to go because your birthday is the same day Disneyland opened or something? If so, this trip will really fit with that of course!!!! Will this be your first time to ANY Disney park?!

Well, I've always joked about how me being born on July 17 (the same day as Disneyland's opening) is like destiny. But considering just how passionate I am about Disney and how it all lead me to this place in my life, I can't help but think that it is all more than coincidence.

And yes, this is my first time on ANY Disney park. I am planning on going to Disneyland next year for the D23 expo, but that is far more expensive than WDW so for now WDW is my ideal vacation place.

I'm thrilled for you! Image

I went to Disneyland Paris in 1997 (for a week) and 2001 (for a day) and it was wonderful. Image

Wow, your first time in a Disney Park ever!! You are going to have such a...ball!!! Haha. This is going to one of the most exciting, thrilling...just plan it well, have fun and enjoy man! Read those guidebooks that are out there...perhaps the unofficial guides, because they'll tell it like it is (unless you're worried they'll ruin the magic? :p). The best one may be Birnbaum's Unofficial Guide to Disney World, 2012 of course.

FYI: Birnbaum's is the OFFICIAL guide.

I've been to WDW and DL with family, boyfriends and solo and I've had a blast each time. Don't hesitate about doing Disney as a single if that's the only way you'd get to go. Many people go to Disney as solo visitors and have a great time! You can take advantage of the single rider lines for the most popular attractions!

That's awesome dude!!! I'm so jealous! I've never been to either Disney World or Disneyland!

And, July 17th was my due date, but I came two days earlier. :-)

I am going by myself on this trip. I can't bring the whole family due to dad still being under treatment for his heart and mom can't stand and walk around for long since her feet and ankles being to swell up. But I will be going to meet up with some friends and hang out.

I have heard from people that Disney can be just as fun by yourself as with a group of people. I think it depends on the group you go with. Some can really get into it while others just make it annoying for others to enjoy themselves.

Aladdinfan, I had a great travel agent help me through the process, it's surprisingly easy and you can get discounts through them during the right times. It does take a while to plan, but at the end it can be surprisingly easy once you know what you are doing and what to expect.

Yay, Pedro!!! I'm super excited for you! And WDW can totally be fun when you're on your own. You might even be "adopted" into families while waiting in lines! :) If you have any questions about WDW at all, I know you have plenty of Disney friends to ask, but I lived there for 7 years, so if you can't get the answer, ask me!!!

I am so excited for you!!! :pink:

Congrats!

If you are doing the dining plan, make sure you have you reservations in BEFORE you go or you may not get in the restaurants that you want. If you need suggestions, just ask!

Make sure you mention its your birthday at Guest Services in your resort. You will get a button and possibly other magical surprises.

Practical info:

It is going to be HOT and humid! Get a bottle of water and refill it at water fountains throughout the day to save money. Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration. Sunglasses and hats will be a good idea as well. I always slasther on the sunblock as well. (Baby powder/cornstarch will help keep, uh, things dry. I know that sounds a bit crazy but if you are standing out in front of the castle in 95 degree heat to watch a show, you'll be glad you prepared, lol. It may be hot where you are from but you probably don't stand outside to watch shows for long persiods of time.)

Doing magical express service? Where are you staying?

Most of all, have fun! :D

No I am not doing the dining plan this time since at the time I booked my vacation there were too many days at work without work or pay so I couldn't afford it at the moment. Plus, since this is my first time I am trying to enjoy everything I don't know if I will have the time to enjoy a sit down meal, so it will likely all be quick service while I am there. But trust me, if I knew I had the time to enjoy a meal I would do it. I have read all about doing reservations very early so maybe next time I will do it. :)

I was already thinking of doing everything you suggested! My travel agent gave me a cool Disney water bottle so I will be using that a lot. I was also thinking of taking sunshades and caps for the sun as well as the sun block aplenty. Though... when you mention the baby powder/corn starch for my... private areas, never thought of that before. I get what you are saying though since I have experienced... that before :p .

I agree about me being in the heat for long, that's why I've been going out on walks during the hottest days to get used to the heat.

I will be doing the Magical Express, and I will be staying at the Pop Century resort, which will be very close to the new Art of Animation resort! I can't wait to pay it a quick visit during my stay.

And I was already thinking of asking for the buttons at the guest services, my travel agent told me about it :)

Thanks for the advice, though! Especially the baby powder one! :)
