Post by Voiceroy »

=====================

Added later: I tried to edit my post to add more detail and for some reason it rejected my login info. So my apologies for the original post being so short.

And now that I think about it, I don't have anything else to add. I put all the details I was given about this release in my article on voiceactorsnews.com.

Thanks for the news!

Wow, they're going all out on bonus features again.

Exactly. I got excited briefly when my friend who is working on the BR gave me a heads-up about it, but then when he told me what would be included I just sighed -- mostly a rehash from the 10th Anniversary DVD.

I was hoping it might include a behind-the-scenes featurette or at least a video interview with Jim Cummings as a bonus, but with BVHV's lack of support these days for producing worthwhile bonus content it's not surprising they didn't bother.

In time, from what I know, all of the Disney Animated Classics will end up on Blu-ray. As I wrote on another thread, many of these releases will be in the next two years. We all just need to have patients.

Still, this is great news, and a good sign that "Many Adventures" might get released sooner rather then later.

Sorry, Disney. I already got the DVD. You are not going to convince me to get the Blu-Ray.

My source sent me an update on those two "new" Tigger cartoons. And the news probably won't be a surprise to any Disney DVD/Blu-Ray collector:

Shouldn't feel that old. The movie was released to theaters in 2000.

And that was also the last year that Disney released anything on VHS, to my knowledge.

Erm . . . I can remember when Disney films were being released for the very first time on VHS (and Beta!) in the early 80's . . . :p How old does that make me? *shakes cane*

Hey,in my opinion it just seems like yesterday I was in elementary school and I was still in my princess phase. But yeah when I was younger I would peg my parents for the next Disney movie coming out on VHS.Well,I could always be sure that my mom would get me that movie since she shared my love for Disney.Even now I still have a great love for Disney and if you go to my room you would see a Disney Princess Poster.I can say that Winnie the Pooh has been a big part of my childhood.Plus I can proudly say that I still have the VHS of the Tigger movie.

Don't take it the wrong way. ;) Most of us around here grew up with Disney after all, and we're posting here because we still continue to love it. :) Sometimes it only feels like yesterday when my parents took me to see The Little Mermaid in the theater for the first time, and I can remember how hard it was to contain my excitement when I found out it was being released on VHS . . . after all, Oliver & Co. from the previous year didn't share the same fate. :p

Anyway, someday you too will marvel at seeing someone much younger than you exclaiming they feel old over something that came out when you were an adult. ;)

Coincidentally, one of my friends was actually one of the animators for A Tigger Movie . . . and as far as I know, he still hasn't even bothered to watch it.

I believe the saying goes that you're only as old as you feel.

I was born in '71, and also remember my parents buying/renting Disney on VHS. Today, I still collect Disney VHS clamshell cover art (although I've donated many of the VHS tapes to schools and libraries), and have a sizable Disney DVD/BR collection too.

I also find that nostalgia makes me feel young, which is the feeling I get when I watch Disney classics/favorites.

Back on topic, as I mentioned in my interview with Jim Cummings on my blog in 2009, I went to see The Tigger Movie at the theater because of my admiration for Jim Cummings and my love of Disney's traditional hand-drawn animation. I was the only adult by himself in the audience.

I didn't buy the DVD when it was released that year (I had already stopped buying VHS at the time), but I did buy the soundtrack.

I am going to love it here because I am around people who truly are great Disney fans. :D

It just seems weird to me that as a kid born in the ninties I feel Disney became a third parent to me espically since my parents divorced when I was only three. :(

Oh, I totally agree! People often think I'm a good ten years younger than I actually am and trust me, I don't mind a bit. ;) It's just fun to joke around about it, especially since my husband's ten years younger than me. I think my love for animation and my love of children has been a big part of making me feel and act young. And I must admit it blows my mind when I think about the preschoolers I used to teach and how old they'd be now.

There's lots of great people here! :)

And well . . . I was always a big fan of Disney, but had a lot of issues in junior high and became a loner. Disney and drawing helped me get through that. I think most people here would be able to relate to what you've gone through as well.

If this were on Facebook, I would have "liked" this post. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your time on the forums here.

I've been more of a "lurker" here in recent years due to being a mod and admin for other sites and forums, but I still browse somewhat regularly to stay current with news and upcoming releases.

I wish they would at least restore the episodes and offer them in HD. But of course, they won't.
