How can I capture images from Disney BR/DVD image galleries?

Post by mkselucas »

Hello all---

Some of the Disney Blu-Ray and DVD discs include image galleries that include great photos, concept art, and marketing images that are otherwise unavailable to fans.

Is there a way to rip or download these images from the BR or DVD to my desktop? I've got an internal BR drive in my PC, and I've opened the various source folders on the disc, but so far, I've come up empty-handed.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
matt

They aren't actually encoded on the disc as images, but as video, hence nothing in the source folders.

The best you'll be able to do is play the BR or DVD using software that allows you to take screenshots (Cyberlink PowerDVD is what I use) and then capture the images you want while the gallery is playing.

Thanks for the reply. I should have thought of that...encoding as video is a simple way for Disney to avoid people easily grabbing hi-res copies of their art.

I'll try the screen-grab approach. I acutally have the Cyberlink PowerDVD software, but I've not tried using it in that way. Do the images come out clear?

Thanks again,

Another option is screen grabbing from your computer (provided it's a PC).

At any point, you can press the "print screen" button (or sometimes ALT+printscreen). WHat that will do is make a "copy" of whatever is on your screen (mouse pointer included). You then have to a program such as photoshop or any other image editing program, create a new file, and press "paste".

Hope that helps
