Character: Frollo’s the only good thing here, masterfully voiced by Tony Jay. I also like Clopin and the Archdeacon. The gargoyles actually don't bother me that much, except for maybe Hugo. All the protagonists are bland though.
Song: “Heaven’s Light/Hellfire,” followed by “The Bells of Notre Dame” and then “Out There.”
Scene: The scenes for the three songs I listed, particularly the opening with the snow and the flashes of light (that's one scene I vividly remember from seeing the film in theaters as a child).

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

I don't think you should start this type of topic so frequently, Laz. And as for the war...I came up with this thread idea, which means I'm in charge.
Seriously, the only reason I mentioned several weeks ago that I might not cover all DACs was because I thought UD was going to die.
Anyway -
Character: Frollo. Who else? Well; I might have said Clopin when I was younger, but Frollo is simply a more compelling and depth-filled character.
Scene: The opening sequence, with Frollo killing Quasimodo's mother and considering killing the baby Quasi. It's fast-paced, shocking and atmospheric; the moment when the gargoyles appear to glare at Frollo is particularly memorable.
Song: 'Hellfire'; not only one of Disney's greatest songs, but also one of cinema's. Absolutely sublime.

Character: tie between Esmeralda and Frollo.
Esmeralda because to me she's on of the most dynamic and well flesh out female characters with great and strong will power(other being Mulan). She's also smoking hot and in reality is actually the main character lol.
Frollo because he's such a dick, obsess with fire and Esmeralda(for teh sex). He has some of the most awesome dialogue in the film. "And don't hit my horse!"
Scene: There's a lot I like. One particular scene that is badass is in the beginning in the first song, where as Frollo looks up at the cathedral, the statue of Mary and Jesus moved their eyeballs at Frollo at the flash of lighting.
Song: Hellfire- what's could more awesome than a song about how much you want to fuck a hot chick in bed with featuring giant red robe grim reapers?

I'm gonna piss a lot of people off:
Favorite character: Frollo (he's awesome)
Favorite scene: Frollo's demise. I love the way he casually drops the fact that he killed Quasi's mother, finally revealing himself as the evil creep that he is towards Quasimodo.
Favorite Song: A Guy Like You...
it's catchy, I'm weak!!

I actually find A Guy like you a cool catchy song too. Only reason most people don't like the song, or in my case dislike point of it, is that it was placed in most inappropriate time and scene, and it felt out of place with the majority of the contents of the movie.

Ok, I think I'm going to give in and actually post in these "favorite scene, song, character" topics. I wasn't going to, because although I found them to look like fun it seemed like they were being posted too fast and that it almost became a race to see who could post which movie when. But now that it seems almost all of the DAC's have a topic now... I might as well post in them.
Character- I love Quasimodo, and I find it weird that none of you seem to like him. I find him really lovable, sweet, and heroic. He also has one of the hardest lessons to learn. He has to learn to be happy with himself and accept himself for who he is. Even after the woman he loves doesn't love him in return. Other than Quasi, Frollo would be my fav.
Scene- The Hellfire sequence for sure! It's just breathtaking
Song- This is a tie in-between "Out There" and "Heaven's Light/Hellfire" for me. "Out There" is just a great song, and it's a ton of fun to sing! The contrast between "Heaven's Light" and "Hellfire" is awesome, and they they set up the best scene in the entire film imo.

3 days between new postings (which I only broke for The Lion King and which I did because I don't care about that movie and because it was still Thanksgiving'y time) is a fair amount of time to wait. It's what I used to do with my Directors' Report Cards thread. Things wouldn't be so mixed up if you had waited 3 days after The Lion King to post Rescuers.Dr Frankenollie wrote:I don't think you should start this type of topic so frequently, Laz.

I just wanted to see that they were kept up. If you want to take the reins back again, no problem. Though I mentioned in my first posting that you said you intended on skipping a few. And I think the Index I made was a good addition- you should use it from now on. Just copy mine, I don't mind.

Why do we need so many of these? We can't we just have one thread titled "Your Favourite Scene, Song, Character in Every Disney Classic"? It feels like such a waste of bandwidth. We're talking about potentially 51 threads dedicated to the same concept.
Sorry if I rained on anyone's parade but I felt I needed to say something about this.

Oh I agree, it really is out of place. But the song itself is, like you said, cool and catchy. I think that's worth mentioning.Super Aurora wrote:I actually find A Guy like you a cool catchy song too. Don't worry- I'm sure me and Dr F agree that we need to stop at around The Emperor's New Groove.Sotiris wrote:Why do we need so many of these? Besides, bandwidth concerns are important and everything but currently, I'm sure you're aware there's an equally large problem: the search feature isn't working properly and mods can't merge threads together anymore. So, it's not like there's a great solution to this. It won't look right if now after 20 or so threads we start grouping movies together.

Re: Favorite Character, Scene, and Song in The Hunchback
Finally someone started a "favorite"-thread about "Hunchback"! I absolutely love this movie, so it would be hard to find a favorite in all of this!
Favorite character: Definitively Quasimodo. He's so sweet, likeable and adorable and Tom Hulce gives the character life and personality. Otherwise, I think Frollo is a excellent villain and Phoebus is one of Disney's better male heroes. I really like Esmeralda as well, despite that I hate the fact that she flirted with Quasi and gave him false hope. I like Djali as well and somewhat Clopin.
Favorite scene: Gosh, that's difficult. I'm a sucker for the opening scene, which is one of Disney's best openings scenes ever! But I also love Frollo's part of Out There, Phoebus and Esmeralda's first encounter and their "fight" in the Cathedral, Esmeralda helping Quasi, "God Help the Outcast". Its hard to choose.
Favorite song: The Bells of Notre Dame and God Help the Outcast.

Well...I didn't know you'd chosen to do one every three days.Lazario wrote:Things wouldn't be so mixed up if you had waited 3 days after The Lion King to post Rescuers.
Thank you for allowing me to use the index for future threads. I don't mind if you want to still do your own "Favourite Character, Scene and Song in..." threads, but I prefer doing it myself.Lazario wrote:I just wanted to see that they were kept up. I find this movie to be a real masterpiece, so it is hard to pick favorite scenes and songs and stuff... I like to say that I am not one of those folks who favors villains either, but they made Frollo sooo evil, that was really cool.
Favorite character: Frollo
Favorite scene: I like the scene where Frollo is explaining things to Phoebus and squashes all the bugs, if I'm remembering correctly. Haven't watched in a while. I love the Hellfire scene too, but I didn't want to just put the same answer for scene AND song...

Favorite Character:Frollo - It's not like me to choose a villain (it makes me feel bad
) but he is one of Disney's most chilling baddies
Favorite Song:This is a tough one, but I would have to go with The Bells of Notre Dame. It's epic
Favorite Scene:The opening - I wasn't going to count it as it has my favorite song in it, but I simply can't go past it's dramatic power.
