8th Annual UltimateDisney / DVDizzy Forum Awards
Yes, folks, it's that time of year, and by "that time of year," I mean "a month after we normally get this started." Trust me when I say you can all stop holding your breath now.
As you may have noticed, I'm not Escapay. If you haven't noticed, I'm really embarrassed by your inability to distinguish one screenname from another and a little bit flattered. For those of you scratching your heads over and over in utter confusion, no, Escapay isn't hosting this year. Earlier this past summer, he asked me if I would be interested in taking over for him this year, and after much consideration, vodka and monetary inducements, I decided "Why not?" Then several months passed and I was reminded that I had made a drunken agreement to do this awards thing and that it was almost a month past when we normally get started. OOPS.
So, yes, as I said, this year you are all stuck with me, Brendan "SpringHeelJack" SpringHeelJack. I'm sorry. I hope not to be the George Clooney to our Batman franchise, and God willing, we will be doing this again (earlier) next year and not waiting a couple years for some other guy to give our awards a gritty realistic reboot. What I'm more or less driving at is I hope that I can live up to the two fantastic past hosts, Albert and Aaron. Please be gentle with me.
Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty details and all. For those of you who don't know or just have slippery memories, this has been something of a tradition here for the past seven years. They basically let us recognize the people on this forum who make it what it is, or give the forum it's Disney Essence if you will (har har). But of course, what is an awards show without rules?
Since last year's went so swimmingly, there really won't be any differences in terms of guidelines. You can submit up to FIVE nominations in each of the categories that appear below. Nominations must be emailed to ultimatedisneyforumawards@gmail.com - please do not send your votes via PM, IM, facebook, tweet, foursquare, carrier pigeon or whatever else it is that you kids use nowadays. Additionally, please make "8th Annual UD Forum Nominations" your subject line. You may not nominate yourself for anything, nor can you nominate a thread / review / idea that you authored. If you won something in the past, you can of course be nominated once again. I'm usually trustworthy, and I won't be making notes about your nominations, filing them away in a rolodex for future blackmail purposes, or keeping track of how few / many times you nominate me (many being preferable). Please do not post your nominations here on the forum. We're trying to keep things surprising, and you don't want to be compared to that jerk who ruined the secret ending to "The Crying Game," do you? Of course not.
Basically, play nice. This is supposed to fun and enjoyable, so don't pit people against each other or try to make someone feel bad. Also remember that there's a whole lot of us here and only a few will be nominated, so don't be too bummed if you don't make it. Why, if I had a nickel for every time I was passed over, I... I... I'm sorry, moving on. At the end of the day, let's just remember to all be classy.
Because the timeline has shifted a little, this year we define "Of The Year" as 10/1/10 - 10/31/11. Only reviews / threads / topics / etc. posted in that time frame are eligible. I know that here at UD / DVDizzy noteworthiness never sleeps, but everything must fall in between those dates. I would also encourage you all to look back sometime and not just keep the past few months fresh in your head when sending you nominations.
After everything has been sent and tabulated by the hardworking Ultimate Disney Volunteer Mothers, the official nominations will be posted in the Off-Topic board for you to vote on. The number of final nominees selected for each category will vary depending on the numbers received, though in an ideal world we'll have 3-5 for each.
I think we'll be doing the ceremony across the course of a week this year, though this might be changed as people lob suggestions / advice / insults at me to consider.
By now you're all saying to yourselves "Did Aaron talk this much? What's this guy's deal?" so I'll shut up and let the nominations begin!

I'm having a bit of trouble with Site Article of the Year because I can't seem to locate any aside from "Sitepocalypse Now," which would make giving an award kinda pointless. If someone can correct me or whatever, I'll update this ASAP.
Additionally, there may also be at least one honorary award given to a member in a special category. You may submit any ideas, suggestions, or nominations for this as well. This category may be different than last year's, though the same person is still eligible.
If there's any further questions or concerns, I'll address them best I can as we stumble along.
PLEASE SEND YOUR NOMINATIONS BY MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH AT 9:00 PM EST.

UPDATE: SHJ SCREWS UP
Okay, so I realize some of you have already sent nominations in, but in my haste apparently I neglected to include Most Creative / Artistic Member, which is a standard category and not a special one this year. And after Escapay warned me this would happen! So, anyhow, what I'm saying is if you already emailed me your votes, shoot me a second email with any nominations you have for Most Creative / Artistic Member. Thanks, guys.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I'm not sure why the name change, but it corresponds with the info that was given to me.Dr Frankenollie wrote:There is a 'Most Amusing Posts' nomination, which is probably a substitute for the 'funniest member' nomination of previous years.Super Aurora wrote:where's the "funniest member" nomin?

Okay, so according to an email from Sotiris earlier today, apparently some people were having trouble accessing the forums last night, which I was unaware of. SO, accordingly, if anyone still has any nominations, please send them to ultimatedisneyforumawards@gmail.com by 9 PM tomorrow evening (11/7/11). Hopefully this will allow anyone who had trouble time to see this and send the email, and maybe also help anyone who was in a bit of a time crunch from the last deadline.

Okay, got all the votes in and tallied! I was GOING to post it tonight, but regrettably my computer decided to be a jerk and force quit my open document. The moral? Always save, boys and girls. So ow working around my work schedule, I'm hoping to have this up by Thursday, then we'll have a week for voting and then... IT BEGINS.
