I'm Worried
I'm very worried right now. My boyfriend gets headaches at least once a week, and they're seriously bad. I don't know what to do. He doesn't know what causes them either. I'm very worried about him.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

I had a period of about three years, from around 2001 to about 2003 where I had severe migraines almost every third day. They often lasted for about an hour, but recovery was a couple hours - felt like a bad hangover. To this day, I have no idea what caused them. I know that from drinking certain wines I can get them, I think it's the sulphites. From just one glass of wine I can get migraines for a period of three days. Sometimes drinking mint tea helps.

Not to ask the obvious, but has your boyfriend seen a doctor? If they're happening often and they're really bad, that's definitely what I'd suggest. The doctor may not know the cause, but I would want to get some medical advice.
I know I used to get bad headaches every afternoon when I was in middle school, but that mostly had to do with a really bad diet.

Listening to most often lately:
Christina Aguilera ~ "Cruz"
Sombr ~ "homewrecker"
Megan Moroney ~ "Beautiful Things"

I get migraines... really bad... to the point where i cant see and numb half down my body.(mimicking stock symptoms) Never know what triggers them.. can be a range of stress and food sensitivity. i remember seeing a 20/20 where people have cluster headache.. it made me glad that i only get migraines.
I'd check back to what he's eating.. when i was young i was told to stay away from cheeses, chocolate, peanuts.. but now stuff with MSG, and additives that have sodium nitrate (found in meats) are bad bad bad for me.

Yeah I've had some. If they are getting so bad and the doctor is booked, your boyfriend should go to the ER. Head Pain is nothing to wait on, especially if it doesn't go away with some Tylenol or an Excedrin. It's better to be safer than sorry later. And If it's right now getting worse, i'd still go to the ER. They can probably give him a shot of some migraine medicine, and perhaps if the primary doctor isn't sure about what's going on, ask about a Neurologist.
Also my advice would be to avoid the herbal medicine for now. That stuff conflicts with other medicine and sometimes does more harm than good in some cases.

First of all, if they're that bad he needs to see a doctor; headaches can be caused by so many different things.
In the meantime, he should stay away from food additives like MSG, nitrates, and aspartame to see if that helps any.
In my case, I used to get horrible migraines, sometimes so bad I could do nothing but hold a pillow over my head and pray that the pain would subside enough for me to sit up. It took several months to figure out that aspartame (an artificial sweetener) was the root of my problem, and luckily those god-awful headaches stay away as long as I watch out for that ingredient.
I hope things get better soon!

I get headaches too, and you know what I do?
I take a nice hot bath! OH Yeah! Works like a charm every time.

All my life I've had pretty bad migraines (I remember having to ask for aspirin on field trips in second grade). Sometimes it gets so bad I get nauseated and feel like throwing up or crying. After a bizarre incident involving a flu shot, I had to go to a neurologist. He put me on migraine medication, which didn't work. He put me on a different perscription, one I took every night, and it reduced the migraines drastically. I've finally gotten to the point where I don't take it every night anymore. So, going to the doctor can really help.
Other things that you do yourself can help. Often things in your diet can trigger migraines, as others have said. Dairy is one of the most common culprits. Heat helps some people with the pain, like Super Aurora, but for others, like me, it aggravates pain. Ice packs help me more than heat.
Please strongly encourage your boyfriend to see a doctor. The migraines could be a symptom of something larger, especially if these newer, stronger migraines came out of nowhere. Also, a doctor can diagnose what kind of migraines your boyfriend has, so that he can get the right treatment.
