The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney Animated Classic, it was the first I ever watched. The movie has gorgeous animation and amazing characters that are all tied to unforgettable and timeless songs.
My favorite character is Ariel, my favorite princess as well. I love her free spirit, spunky attitude, and amazing voice. And I love her character animation and how her hair moves.
Ursula on the other hand comes in a very close second. I love the contrast between the two. In my opinion she's also the greatest animated villain. To this day she still freaks me out.
My favorite song it's so hard to decide I love them all, but if I have to pick one it would be "Part of Your World." It just captures the feeling of being free. The music that accompanies it is just beautiful.
My favorite scene another tough decision but I would have to say pretty much from when Ariel arrives in Ursula's cavern to when she gets on land. That entire section is so beautiful animated. It has so many things going on and an amazing villain song to back it up.

Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful
Favorite character: Ariel, obviously. Beautiful, sweet, determined, free-spirited, courageous, adventurous etc. I always root for her whenever watching the movie. I really, truly, literally can't understand people who dislike the character.
Favorite song: Part of your World, of course.
Favorite sequence: I think the destruction of Ariel's cavern. It starts when Ariel is fawning all over Eric's statue. Then she's taken aback by her father's sudden presence. She has to hear Triton's prejudiced rant against humans and finally blurts out: "DADDY, I LOVE HIM!" and then realizes what she just said. What a powerful moment. And then after Triton destroyed her treasures, Ariel whispers to Flounder, with a huge, deep sigh in her voice: "leave me alone . Heart-wrenching.

Character: I love all the characters from this film; even Scuttle has a kind of whimsical charm. But my favorite is Ursula, hands down. Ariel is my favorite protagonist and/or princess though. I also think Triton’s a well-developed character, the archetypal patriarch, even though he is flawed. And Sebastian is a vibrant, entertaining, well-voiced tag-a-long, too. Very strong cast.
Scene: “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” without a doubt. You’d think it would be hard to get across how 5 minutes in Ursula’s lair would get somebody to basically bet their voice and their soul hazardously, but they managed to do that spectacularly. There's so much going on in this scene that's amazing, but I especially love the ending as Ariel chokes for breath and Ursula's cackling echoes as she struggles to the surface. After that, it’s a tie between the climax (when Ursula rises out of the water) and “Part of That World.” I also love the climactic scene on the boat--”You’re too late!”--where Ariel’s voice is restored and Ursula explodes out of the wedding dress and then crawls obscenely across the boat after her.
Song: Again, “PUS” (I love those initials.
). Pat Carroll is amazing, even more so than Jodi Benson--though they’re both excellent in their roles. It's too bad Sebastian ends up overshadowed though, because "Under The Sea" is a quintessential showstopper.

Because they believe that Ariel was selfish and... Honestly, I can't really explain it myself. Ask the Ariel-haters to find out why.Goliath wrote:I really, truly, literally can't understand people who dislike the character.
Anyways....
Favorite Character: Ariel. Honestly, she was one of my first crushes.
Favorite Song: Part of Your World
Favorite Scene: The scene when Ariel's sitting on the rock and the wave splashes behind her.

Before I say which ones are mine, I found it interesting that people chose a wide variety of characters as their favorite. i think that shows that this film is populated by all interesting, well thought out characters...
Now mine:
Character: Flounder. Simply cause my dad used to say I looked like him. And I did! (when I was a kid)
Song: Tough one...tie between Under the Sea and Part of yr world (reprise). THe former induces me with energy (no matter how many times I hear it), the latter gives me chills...
Scene: the faux wedding...from the time ariel arrives on the ship, till Ursula take her away. Ursula exploding out of her dress is brilliant...the way she crawls towards Ariel is incredible: there is such a mix of hunger, greed and knowing she's won...and I also love the pain in Ariel's face when she gets her fins back.... brilliant scene!
A side note...people, go to youtube, and look up "Little Mermaid Isolated", the entire movie is on there with the isolated score playing...what a beautiful score!!!

The Little Mermaid is my favorite DAC, so of-course I'm gonna participate
Fav Character - Ursula, because she's over the top, she's a diva and she's hilarious. She's definitely a dragqueen lol
She's animated wonderfully as well.
Fav Song - Part of Your World. I love the melody and often listen to the instrumental version.
Fav Scene - Tough one. I'd have to go with either "Fathoms Below/Main Titles" or the climax. I love how they did the strom in the finale. Brilliant. Oh I also like the first scene with Scuttle. It's such an innocent and sunny moment.

Character: I love pretty much all of them, but I'm going to have to go with Ariel.
Song: Either Part of Your World or Poor Unfortunate Souls.
Scene: At the end of Part of your World when she reaches out of the grotto, but then go back down, knowing she'll never will be able to stay above land. Such a powerful scene.
