Top 100 Dvds of all time

Post by 2099net »

About the Top 100 List
The 2004 Top 100 DVD Census List was voted on by over 850 members of various dvd- and home theatre-related fora, as well as in-store patrons to various video rental stores.

The poll asked voters to choose their Top 10 Best DVDs of all-time, taking into account both the quality of the film, DVD presentation, and supplemental features. Their #1 choice received 10 points, #2 9 points, and so on. The points were then tallied and the following Top 100 list represents the highest-rated discs as chosen by our democratic process.
Enjoy!

Some great reads fro that site, Netty...thanks for the post.

As for the Top 100, I own a meager 24% of them.
Nice to see The Fantasia Anthology and The Ultimate Toy Box so highly ranked.

The Fantasia Anthology should really be in the Top 10, IMO. But I agree with most placements on the list. Good to see Looney Tunes and Casablanca up there.

Thanks for notifying us, Netty!

PS: I own 24 titles from the list.

Kram and I only own 10 on the list, and 1 on the runner-up list.

And I could have made it 11 and bought Casablanca: Special Edition, but I chose not to at the time (still have the VHS, though).

Don't forget Luke's Top 100 which was voted for my members of Home Theater Forum and DVDTalk.

I've got a comment or two in the write up, one of them moaning about the Lord of the Rings set - grumpy as always- and my Evil Dead comment came true! (In the UK anyhow thanks to the Trilogy boxset).

I know indianajdp is a big DVDTalk member? Are you quoted?

A lot of excellent DVD's made that list, though I only own 19 of them, soon to be 20 (my Moulin Rouge 2-Disc is being shipped to me in a few days).

Interesting. I have 11 of these (several more that aren't the right edition), and they are:

95. X-Men 2
89. The Lion King
67. T2 (Extreme)
42. Simpsons Season 3
39. Matrix
36. Pirates of the Caribbean
32. Finding Nemo
27. Star Wars Episode I
23. Snow White Platinum
22. Back To The Future Trilogy
20. Star Wars Episode II

So, 1 in the top 20... 3 in the top 25... 8 in the top 50. Eh, not too bad.
