So, Is it Hot Out Where You're At?

Right now, we have been in the 90s the past few days with the heat index in the mid to upper 90s. I have spent most of the my inside with the air conditioning on. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 98 or 99 , however, temperatures will drop back into the mid 80s by next week so, I guess there is some relief in sight.

How hot has it been where you live?

It's pretty sweltering where I am (Southwest Ohio). It's been in the mid-90s and with the heat index, it feels over 100. I haven't gone outside much because it's just way too hot. Though, it would be a good time to go swimming; of course, I don't have a pool to go swimming in or know anyone who has a pool (they aren't overly abundant in Ohio).

I'm in Texas. The average is around 105. Haha.

Earlier this month we had a high of 110°. I went to a wedding yesterday and had to stand out in the sun with long, dark dress clothes (thankfully I'm finally starting to get used to the weather here), and it was 106°.

I just can't wait until the day I get into my car and see 127° on the thermometer like I did last year.

And in the UK, it's been around 55 at some parts of the week. Fortunately, it's warming up a tiny bit again after a slight cold spell. Even so, I perhaps don't envy temperatures that high.

Since the first of June we have had over 40 days of temperatures 100 degrees or above and we are in the middle of a 10=day heat waive where today's temperature of 104 is going to be the lowest we experience until Monday, July 25 when it is only supposed to be in the upper 90's.

What makes the heat in Kansas unbearable at times is the humidity. Our heat index has been in the 110 or above for quite some time now and makes it hard for older people like me to do the things we need to do or like to do.

And we still have the month of August to go through, and August is traditionally the hottest month of the summer. And school goes back into session here in Kansas on August 17. Whoopppeeeeeeee!!!!

It's been a bad July for Holland so far. Rain, rain and more rain and the wind is at times ridiculously strong. We've had a lot of trouble with it. It's not really cold (though I'm cold most of the times anyway, and I'm wearing thick sweaters whereas everybody else wears T-shirts). It's about 17 or 18 degrees out here. (Celsius that is, of course.)

It’s too bad we can’t get rain where I’m living. The only time we ever get rain is randomly in the afternoon with borderline tornado weather these days. We’ve been in droughts the past 3 years or so.

I always hate when everything starts turning brown and the roses stop blooming.

It's hot, but not much out of the ordinary here at this time of the year. In fact, it was unusually hot in May and June, and unusually cold in March and April.

But it seems we're getting hotter summers every year. Every year. And this heat wave is one of the worst ones we've ever had? Already has killed 22 people.

So, I just wanted to say, (please don't mock me), I think it all has to do with global warming. Livestock and crops are in serious danger.

Since it's been getting hotter every summer, can't even the people who didn't believe in global warming now finally see it's happening? Or will it take about three more hotter, worse summers before they finally do, by then it will be much, much worse?

Currently 96 dgrees here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. A bit of a drop from the 100 degrees it was earlier. This is why the fall is my favorite season not too hot and not too cold

Why should I mock you? You're absolutely right. That is exactly what is happening. Though I don't call it "global warming" anymore, but "climate change", like we should've called it all along, because warming is just one of the effects of climate change. In other places, it's getting colder than it used to be, and it's raining more and harder than usual in other places. This is a pattern. Natural disasters seem to happen more often and have more impact every year. Climate scientists agree this is indeed climate change (or as you called it, global warming).

People who don't believe in climate change are in denial. They don't want to believe it, because they know that, in order to avoid it, they'll have to make sacrifices, like using less energy, and they're not prepared to do it. Others are being deceived by politicians who are in denial because the big oil lobby pays them off. Still others just don't believe in it, because they distrust science and intellectuals, an ever-growing problem in both the US and Europe. Anti-intellectualism is being stimulated by politicians who gain votes by offering simple yet wrong-headed solutions. Others simply believe 'we will adapt' or 'science will find a solution'.

I heard when the Earthquakes happened in Japan, it moved the plates in the earth....hence Twister w/ Bill Paxton Live Across America, wild fires going on since there's lack of rain....Global Warming is happening.....and I never did believe when it was first said we can save it that we could....I think the damage has been done and Global Warming or Climate Change. Or we prolong the inevitable. either way global warming will happen...it's only a matter of time and when and not IF.

I vote for Minnesota as the location with the most extreme temperatures. We hit 102 degrees the other day and reached -18 (not factoring in wind chill) this past winter.
