The Royal Wedding Collection - seriously?

Post by Barbossa »

Just got the latest DMR e-mail and it has these listed on there:

Seriously? Just a slipcover thrown over current editions that are out of the vault. I'm sure someone on this board will be buying...

Hey, Disney should be allowed to cash-in on the royal wedding, too!

Seriously, if I were British, I'd so be buying every royal wedding teacup and meat pie in sight.

I take it those are just new slip covers? With Snow White going into the vault in 4 days, it seems unlikely Disney would produce a whole new batch of copies to be shipped out.

There is so much merchandise on the Royal Wedding. It's absolutely absurd! It's no wonder Disney couldn't resist the temptation to cash in.

Oh dear, this is so, so, so tacky. If I were a member of the royal family, I'd even consider suing.

What, no Sleeping Beauty or Enchanted with a different slipcover? Disney could have squeezed a lot more money out of people. It's odd they didn't.

I think Sleeping Beauty went back into the vault in 2010, so that would explain its absence, but good point about Enchanted!

This is just sad, sad, sad!

The only way I could justify buying any of these titles is if I never had them in the first place and they brought them out of the vault for this 'special' release.

Pure capitalization on the Royal Wedding on Disney's part, but hey - they gotta make their money too.

I also think they used the criteria of which movies had a royal by blood prince, Snow White being the odd one out.

That hardly seems like a good way to encourage continuing the monarchy.

If you pay attention to the first post, you'll get your answer. (yes Enchanted is one of them). The movies with the temporary slipcover are:

Princess and the Frog
Beauty and the Beast
Snow White
Mulan
Mulan II
Enchanted
Disney Princess: Enchanted Dreams

In a nut shell, princess movies that are currently out of the vault.
