RUMOR: Possible new Brazil pavillion for Epcot?

Post by WonderlandFever »

From WDWNewsToday.com

article: http://wdwnewstoday.com/archives/6924

Is Brazil going to fill one of the long empty pavilion spaces in Epcot’s World Showcase? This short article from Brazil’s largest daily newspaper, Folha, claims that it is:

TRANSLATION:

Brazil got a great seat at an International forum with Disney. Representatives of the largest complex of theme parks in the world sought the federal government this week to announce that are going to install a pavilion of Brazil at Epcot in Orlando.

Now, this wouldn’t be the first time a pavilion for World Showcase was announced and not built, so it may be too early to be concerned about this. Brazilian guests do make up a large portion of Walt Disney World’s visitors, so it wouldn’t bee too far-fetched. One question: Do Brazilian guests need to visit the country they just left? Probably not, but according to this article (how credible it may be is still debatable), it is happening.

We will keep you up-to-speed on this breaking story as more becomes available, so stay tuned…

-----------

I marked it as rumor because this could be not true, what makes me suspicious is how they call it Epcot Center........but it would be very cool

I would be great if it can cause there is no South American countries representatives in Epcot.(only have N.America, Europe and Asia).

Wow, that will be really really cool! Yeah, I did heard a while back about rumors of a new place in World Showcase. But, I wonder where they'll put it. :? :? :?

I really hope this does eventually come true. I think World Showcase has been needing something new for a while, especially when they have four parcels of land inbetween pavilions that are ideal for future ones. However, I think I'd much rather see them continue to implement more attractions. I'd love to see a revival of the ideas such as the Rhine River Cruise in Germany, the now defunct at Tokyo Disneyland Meet The World for Japan, and river rafting adventure in Canada.

I agree I would love to see more rides in the world showcase :D I've always liked the idea for the Rhine River and wasn't there talk about some sort of roller coaster in Japan?

I think so. If I remember correctly, there was supposed to be some kind of plan for a bullet train coaster through Mt Fuji.

I don't know if Brazil would by my first choice for adding a country to Epcot. After looking at the list of countries currently there:

Italy
United Kingdom
Mexico
United States
Canada
Norway
Japan
China
Morocco
Germany
France

The most glaring absence to me is Russia.

While I would love to see Russia as well they need to have a country representing South America but there is room for both

Russia does seem a more logical choice, but at least there is representation from that continent.

In that case Brazil does make a lot of sense, as would an Australian pavilion. Perhaps Disney is planning on having this done by the time Rio hosts the Olympics?

Latin America is represented though. Asia, the largest and most populous continent, is severely under-represented, IMO. Australia would be an interesting addition.

it has two countries from Asia, what you mean it's under-represented?

Only Latin America is Mexico which is part of North America, not South America.

2 out of its 48 countries and Asia contains 60% of the world's population in itself.

With Russia being the largest country in the world, it's absence is much more glaring and noticeable than Brazil.

Though I am visualizing walking through the streets of Baia singing the song as if I'm in the Three Caballeros.

One of the two countries in that continent make up 1/3 of world population: China.

The other is India which should be included but we have two well known Asian countries already whereas we have non from South America, Australia, and only one minor one from Africa.

Thing is the majority of the population of Russia is in the Europe side of the border where as the portion in Asia is hardly inhabited. Most people consider Russia more of a European country than an Asian country anyway since majority of Russian's history is in Europe.

Russia would be nice to have too but first they should consider the countries from continents that don't have any countries represented.

North America got the big three in there: USA, Canada, and Mexico

Europe got : UK, Norway, Germany, Italy, France

Asia got: China and Japan

Africa got: Morocco
