I feel like Criterion SHOULD be the avenue in which Disney releases SOTS on DVD. That would solve the family film issue, as Criterion releases aren't typically geared towards family audiences so much as towards adult film buffs who can understand racial stereotyping and things of that nature. Disney should take a note from this (very likely but a small sliver of a chance it's not) April Fools' prank and contact them. Are ya listening, Disney?

Yeah, Criterion would be the way to go for something like this.my chicken is infected wrote:I feel like Criterion SHOULD be the avenue in which Disney releases SOTS on DVD. I don't mean it like that, I just mean can't they find a more original little prank then stating a well known fact that we are probably not going to ever see this film receive a commercial release. But every year on April Fools day at least 1 film site does a faux press release type of posting for this film all I'm saying.

Yeah. I would've jumped on it more if there was an annoucement that The Rocketeer was getting a Blu release, or a better DVD release.my chicken is infected wrote:I didn't even notice the tag.I didn't have to, it's like Disney Guru says - every year on April 1, there's always a fake press release or announcement about the video release of this movie to home video. People don't even try anymore.

Well, at our Dutch Disney forum (http://bb.mcdrake.nl/) we started our April Fool's jokes a day or two ahead. Announce a bit of exciting 'news' on April 1st, and people won't buy it. But announce something a few days ahead and claim something's going to happen in a couple of days (without mentioning that will be 'April 1st') and people are starting to believe it.KubrickFan wrote:What should they have done?
