"Enchanted" - Other city locations?

Post by Big Disney Fan »

I know the movie is set in New York City, but in hindsight, I can't help but wonder: what if the movie were set in other cities? Say, like, San Francisco?

If that was the case, let's say, they would probably have, say, the scenes in Central Park replaced with those from Golden Gate Park. When Giselle first enters the real world from the cartoon world, she would probably wind in Union Square. And perhaps the big climax with Narissa as a dragon would probably take place on the Golden Gate Bridge, and as she gets vanquished, she would fall into the bay.

What are your thoughts?

The first draft of the script was actually set in Chicago. I suppose they went with New York as it's instantly more recognisable for international audiences.

Aw . . . I would have loved Chicago, but I'm a little biased. ;) I get nostalgic every time I watch a movie that takes place there. :)

I also think Enchanted would do well in the city of Delphi! No, really.

Chicago would've been a nice change of pace from nearly every other movie/book/TV show choosing the New York City locale.

I have to admit, as much as I liked the Enchanted movie, I groaned when they announced the NYC locale. Part of it had to do with another announcement around the same time about how American Dog changed to Bolt, where among other changes, the pooch winds up in...New York City.

Maybe I'm just upset because New York City, essentially the world's capital, does not properly represent New York State, which has its challenges that the state government seems eternally clueless about addressing.

And New York City doesn't even cover all of NYC, it just covers Manhattan.

I'm also not the biggest fan of everything always being set in NYC, either.
