What's your favorite Disney Animated Song of All Time?

Post by MICKEYMOUSE »

I don't know if this has ever been posted before, if so, I am sorry. But what is your favorite all time Disney Animated Song? (One song only, I know it is tough, but just name 1)

Darn, I was going to say "Feed the Birds". Then I re-read the title.

Anyway, I'd say "Part of Your World" from "The Little Mermaid".

Hmmm...that's hard. My favourite song from any Disney film is "You've Got a Friend in Me," but I know a lot of people don't consider Pixar films to be Disney. I think mine would have to be "Part of Your World." I may be the only one on here that doesn't like Ariel, but that song is just so pretty. I like it in spite of the character singing it. I also love the songs from Pocahontas. But almost all of the Disney songs are great.

EDIT: UmbrellaFish, you beat me to it! Your post wasn't there when I started typing, so I wasn't copying you.

a tie between "Belle" and "Colors of the Wind". "Belle" because its the first song in B&TB and "Colors of the Wind" because I love Pocahontas.

Part of your World is good, too.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

We've had tons of these sort of threads. I really can't say which one is my absolute favourite, though "When You Wish Upon a Star" is most certainly up there. Yes, it's a clichéd choice, but there's something so beautiful about it; it's melancholy yet like a wishing star, it captures the spirit of hope in a world of darkness. Other absolute favourites include "Under the Sea", "Part of That World", "The Second Star to the Right", "You've Got a Friend in Me", "You Can Fly", "Love is a Song", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Friend Like Me".

And for the hell of it, I'll list my favourite song from each animated classic at this point in time, though I will skip some of the package features and those that don't really feature that many, if any, songs (and also I'll include the few Pixar films that have quite a number of tunes, as well as some combo films, if the best song in question has some animation set to it):

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Heigh Ho
Pinocchio: When You Wish Upon a Star
Dumbo: When I See an Elephant Fly
Bambi: Love is a Song
Cinderella: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo
The Three Caballeros: The Three Caballeros
Song of the South: Zip-a-dee-doo-dah
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad: Merrily on our Way
Alice in Wonderland: Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan: The Second Star to the Right
Lady and the Tramp: Bella Notte
Sleeping Beauty: Once Upon a Dream
101 Dalmatians: Cruella De Vil
The Sword in the Stone: The Legend of the Sword in the Stone
Mary Poppins: Jolly Holiday
The Jungle Book: My Own Home
The Aristocats: The Aristocats
Bedknobs and Broomsticks: The Beautiful Briny
Robin Hood: Oo-de-lally
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers: Tomorrow is Another Day
Oliver and Company: Once Upon a Time in New York City
The Little Mermaid: Under the Sea
Beauty and the Beast: Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin: Friend Like Me
The Lion King: Can You Feel the Love Tonight
Pocahontas: Colors of the Wind
Toy Story: You've Got a Friend in Me
The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Bells of Notre Dame
Hercules: Go the Distance
Mulan: Reflection
Tarzan: Strangers Like Me
Toy Story 2: When She Loved Me
Lilo and Stitch: He Melo No Lilo
Brother Bear: On My Way
Home on the Range: Will the Sun Ever Shine Again
The Princess and the Frog: Down in New Orleans
Tangled: obviously don't know just yet, but "I See the Light" is fabulous so far, perhaps that'll be it... :)

"I'm Still Here" from Treasure Planet, "My Funny Friend and Me" from the Emperor's New Groove but my favourite is "Bear Necessities" from The Jungle Book, mostly for nostalgic reasons.

I'm feeling lazy, so I'll just copy Wonderlicious's post and rename all of it. (I got rid of the ones I haven't seen in a LONG time).

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Heigh Ho
Pinocchio: When You Wish Upon a Star
Dumbo: Baby Mine
Cinderella: Sing Sweet Nightingale
Alice in Wonderland: The Unbirthday Song
Peter Pan: The Second Star to the Right
Lady and the Tramp: Bella Notte
Sleeping Beauty: Once Upon a Dream
101 Dalmatians: Cruella De Vil
The Jungle Book: The Bare Necessities
The Aristocats: Scales and Arpeggios
Robin Hood: Oo-de-lally
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh
The Rescuers: Someone's Waiting For You
The Little Mermaid: Under the Sea
Beauty and the Beast: Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin: A Whole New World
The Lion King: Circle of Life
Pocahontas: Colors of the Wind
Toy Story: You've Got a Friend in Me
The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Heaven's Light (NOT Hellfire)
Hercules: Go the Distance
Mulan: I'll Make a Man Out of You
Tarzan: Two Worlds
Toy Story 2: When She Loved Me
The Princess and the Frog: Almost There
Tangled: I see the Light, but obviously the only song I've heard.
Toy Story 3: Uh... I guess You've Got a Friend in Me (Spanish version)?

One song only?! Oh my, that's much too hard! But, if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to pick just one, it would have to be 'The journey' from The Rescuers, the first song in the film that plays over the opening titles. I've seen it a thousand times, and the atmosphere and Shelby Flint's voice still gives me goosebumps!

Other huge favorites of mine include 'Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride' and 'Burning love' (the Wynonna cover) from Lilo & Stitch. Especially the latter one touches a nerve with me, as I see how Lilo's family is doing after the tumultuous events in the film and I have to say goodbye to the characters. 'Part of your world' is a usual suspect, but I also like 'Bells of Notre Dame', the overwhelming opening of Hunchback, and speaking of that film, 'Hellfire' too.

I have a soft spot for 'With a smile and a song' from Snow White. Even though 'I'm wishing/One song' is the superior song, I like the little bit Snow White sings to the animals because it confirms my sympathy for her; it shows her kindness and warmth and that's why I'm rooting for her. And yes, I *do* like Adriana Caselotti's voice a lot, thank you very much! :P

Edited for typo's

o heck, thats a hard one! however, im gonna have to go with "friends on the other side" from princess and the frog. i love the animation on facilliers face with the "skeleton type masky thing"

i also enjoy "sing sweet nightengale" from cinderella, but only the bit the step sisters sing, cos they crack me up.

i do love all the songs, with very few exceptions where it seems wrong or the voices annoy me.

Off the top of my head..."If I Never Knew You" from Pocahontas. Runner-ups include "Out There" (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), "Very Good Advice" (Alice in Wonderland); and "God Help the Outcasts" (also from Hunchback).

Oooh, definitely 'Beauty and the Beast' (especially the chorus at the end), 'A Whole New World,' and 'I See the Light' of course

Actually I think this is my first time posting outside of the Tangled thread....hi people I haven't met yet! *waves shyly*

It's hard to narrow it down to one, and to be honest it sometimes changes depending on my mood and whatnot, but for right now I'm gonna say A Whole New World

Probably a tie between "Part of Your World" and "Under The Sea". In the latter, I especially like the instrumental part when Flounder takes Ariel. It's beautiful!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is my favorite soundtrack, hands down–if forced, I'll go with "Out There". Although I'm pretty fond of "One Jump Ahead" and "One Jump Ahead (Reprise)" from Aladdin. But it's so hard to choose!

Currently, my favorite may be "Someday My Prince Will Come," especially the finale version (the only Disney finale that continually makes me teary-eyed).

I'll throw this in as my favorite unsung (intended) Disney song: "The Headless Horseman" from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. I consider this to be the grandfather of the Disney Renaissance villain songs.

Yeah, my favorite's a toss up between "Part of That World" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls."

To do something I haven't done before in one of these threads:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ~ "One Song/I'm Wishing"*
Pinocchio ~ "I've Got No Strings"
Dumbo ~ "Baby Mine"*
Cinderella ~ "Sing, Sweet Nightingale"*
Alice in Wonderland ~ "In A World of My Own"
Peter Pan ~ "The Second Star to the Right"
Sleeping Beauty ~ "Once Upon A Dream"
101 Dalmatians ~ "Cruella De Vil" (is there any other song in this movie?)
The Jungle Book ~ "My Own Home"
The Sword in the Stone ~ "That's What Makes the World Go Round"
The Fox and the Hound ~ "Goodbye May Seem Forever"
The Great Mouse Detective ~ "Goodbye, So Soon"
Oliver and Company ~ "Why Should I Worry?"
The Little Mermaid ~ "Poor Unfortunate Souls"* / "Part of That World"*
Beauty and the Beast ~ "Beauty and the Beast" (Angela Lansbury's version will always win)
Aladdin ~ "Prince Ali"
The Lion King ~ "Circle of Life" (Not crazy about any, really)
Pocahontas ~ "Just Around the Riverbend" *
The Hunchback of Notre Dame ~ "Heaven's Light/Hellfire"
Hercules ~ "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)"* / "Zero to Hero"
Mulan ~ "Honor To Us All"
Tarzan ~ "Son of Man"
Treasure Planet ~ "I'm Still Here"
Brother Bear ~ "On My Way" (though they all blend together)
Home On The Range ~ "Little Patch of Heaven"
Meet The Robinsons ~ "Little Wonders"
The Princess and the Frog ~ "Down in the New Orleans" (I love Anika Noni Rose, but "Almost There" fails to excite beyond her singing it)

* They're in my top ten.

The movies not on here--either I can't remember any specific songs (I love Bambi, but I can never right-off remember any of the songs) or I just don't care for any songs in the film (Robin Hood).
