It's really not surprising, and sends the message that if you really want something from Disney on Blu-ray, hold out.
I was happy with the older DVD so I haven't shelled out yet on a double-dip. I'd eventually like to get all the DAC's on Blu though but since I don't have a player yet, it's not a priority.

Ha, I have a player but don't have an HDTV, so I'm in a similar way. Still, I have been buying blu ever since I got a player just so I don't have to rebuy (I can still watch them at least, though it doesn't look HD for me). If I ever find a stinkin' job around here (and I've JUST run out totally of my savings; probably shouldn't have bought Tink 3 yet, and without a coupon because I have no printer), I'll get an HDTV as one of my first purchases, ha. But, anyway, I'm happy to say I was satisfied enough with the previous 2 disc Alice not to rush into buying this one too. Though I don't expect it, I wish they'd announce a blu-ray for Robin Hood, Black Cauldron, Bedknobs, and Aristocats before I go out and buy the latest versions... (though I'd have to check if Bedknobs and Robin Hood are much of an upgrade). I haven't bought Dumbo either. Is that one still coming to blu? And I can't for the life of me remember if I ever got the more recent Fox and the Hound... Anyway, really glad to hear this (it was news to me), and can't wait to get it. I wish they'd announce some non-Disney titles coming to blu-ray soon, like Anastasia and Ferngully, which I have yet to upgrade from VHS, even though I want to badly.enigmawing wrote:It's really not surprising, and sends the message that if you really want something from Disney on Blu-ray, hold out.

You're sure being optmistic. I wouldnt hold out for much if you consider how the recent BluRay releases of Disney classics have been treated.merlinjones wrote:I'm looking forward to this one - - I hope it has all the requisite extras we've seen on the DVDs and Laserdiscs of the past (...unlike the new Fantasia release).

I agree, since I've started upgrading my DAC on VHS collection (I never had any of the DVD's), I've decided to stick with only the Blu-ray/DVD combo packs as they are released.enigmawing wrote:It's really not surprising, and sends the message that if you really want something from Disney on Blu-ray, hold out.
For example, I'd like to get The Black Cauldron, but I'm going to wait because I'm hoping we EVENTUALLY see it in a combo pack, even if it's not for a few years.
I'm looking forward to Alice next year!

Especially because it has the exact same nameajmrowland wrote:honestly, ive been suspicious since the days when we all gossiped about this movie being a potential platinum release. and its clear the un-anniversary edition was just a rushed version to tie-in to a certain other film that i need not even name.

I think Disney is starting to get very predictable in their greed, that's what I think. I actually would have thought they would have waited at least another year for this, to rack up on sales of the DVD. This film in particular has been release WAY too much over the years.

I love Alice in Wonderland (I happen to be watching it right now as I type) and I saw on a website where I can get a good deal on this 60th Anniversary edition. I don't have a Blu-ray player but I'll most likely get one eventually.. So I wondering if anyone has screen captures of this edition or a link to a website that has them? I saw the pictures on UD's review and I have to say the colors on Alice look really "Ronald McDonald"! I wanted to compare to see if it's a true upgrade and if its worth buying. Thanks in advance
