Animation Rentals?

Post by interactivemojo »

After giving it some though I'd like to ask this question. How would you guys feel about someone starting a website in which you could not just buy animated titles but RENT them. Does anyone think there'd be enough traffic to support such a venture? I'm interested in hearing everyone's input. If nothing else this would elimnated the need to buy low end titles such as DTV and such as that. I've already been throwing around some idead such as Animation Station email me and let me know??
If you want it, I've got it. Need Disney Treasures, Truelife and some series email me for my list.

Rent movies online? That doesn't really sound like a good plan to me, but my opinion does not count.

That is not a good idea at all.
Why not just buy it so you could see it again and again not just one time.
It's also a waste of money to rent it again and again just own it.

If you wanted to see the movie at a BlockBuster or Hollywood Video it's ok but not online.

I just rent movies that don't look to good or to cheap so I rent them.

Well there are already a couple established online retal sites, so if you pursue this you'll need to come up with a pretty unique angle. I don't think you'll have enough of a potential market, however, if you limit your offerings to animation. Unless of course you are planning on including anime, as well as 2-D and 3-D. Even then , not sure ....

And there are plenty of folks that would rent online. Think of the tens of millions of consumers that are miles away from even the most remote Wal-Mart.

its called net flix. when i started buying dvds i never rented dvds again but since i got a dvd burner, i rent 6 dvds a day. but i don't do it on-line. here we have a really cool video store that blows blockbuster or hollywood video away. 2.50 a title and 1.25 for childrens titles which includes anything animated disney. i've also got my hands on very rare discs that i would have had to pay out the a$$ for like uncensored private snafu, little mermaid, lady and the tramp, 101 dalmations, felix the cat, and i saw mtv's liquid television disc go for more than 100 bucks on ebay. they had it there.
