"Kick-Ass" Blu-ray problem...........

This morning I was at my favorite Best Buy store to pick this movie up and so far I have been through six copies, trying to get it to load and play.

I have checked with Lionsgate about any updates that might be needed, they weren't aware of any.

I have an LG Network Ready Blu-ray player, and also a PS3. It won't load on either one. \

Contacted Sony regarding any updates that might be forthcoming, and the only update is to make the PS3 3-D compatible.

LG shows no new updates at this time.

Don't know what to do, except go back to Best Buy tomorrow and hope that I can get one that will work.

Anyone else having problems with the Blu-ray of this movie??

It'd be pretty remarkable if you found a copy that worked after six that didn't. I mean I guess it's conceivable that your favorite Best Buy somehow got a bad batch. But I think it's more likely you need to update your Blu-ray players in some fashion (probably firmware?).

Where do I get these updates? I called Lionsgate and they weren't aware of any upgrades needed, and I called LG customer service and they said that my current model Blu-ray player has all the updates needed to play the latest Blu-ray releases, and they weren't aware of any current problems.

Is this 'firmware' something I will have to purchase? Help, I would like to be able to enjoy this movie, and right now only the standard DVD will play.

I know it isn't this film, but my Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Blu-ray only works on one of the three Blu-ray players that we have. It doesn't work on my computer nor does it work on my mother's Blu-ray player. The BD does work on my PS3, though. I don't know why/how in the world this happens because it doesn't really make sense.

I talked with a friend of mine who is a true 'techno-geek' after what Luke had said about 'firmware updates'. And he told me that I need to contact the Customer Service number for LG and tell them of my situation, which I did, and now have a firmware update disc on its way to me.

I was told that all Blu-ray players, including Sony's PS3 need 'firmware updates' on a semi-regular basis. They are free and take very little time to load, and if you are one of the techno persons who knows how to hook your Blu-ray or PS3 to the Internet, you can get downloads of the upgrades faster than those of us who need to get a disc sent.

I would suggest that you contact the customer service department either by phone or on the internet about the problem, and they will be more than happy to help. And the best part is - it's all FREE!!!!!!!

On my Sony player I do not have it connected online, and I've been downloading and making upgrade CDs from their website. You can probably do that with your LG player if you don't want to wait on the disc.

What type of CDs work best for this? CD-RW or CD+RW and could you point me to a step by step thing of how to do this. I have a 20 GB PS3 and no ethernet cable right now to plug it into the wi fi here and the DSL box is 3 rooms away....because know my PS3 needs an update

At the bottom of the page you can click on the PS3 software update (version 3.41) and there's directions on the page depending on what you want to do (bottom of the page). I usually just use a flashdrive and plug it into the USB port and update it.

Yeah a USB flash drive is what I've heard was best on the PS3. On other players any blank CD will do as long as the player can read the type of CD you use. I've been using a cheap spindle of CD-Rs and burning the files with ImgBurn.

I haven't tried playing this movie on my players, but from what I've been hearing there are some loading problems with this movie.

Some players take 2 to 5 minutes to load the movie. I guess new firmware updates will be released later to fix it.

Updates are released on almost a monthly basis. You need to contact Customer Service at the company who makes your Blu-ray player and have them send you the current up-date disc and put you on their list to get automatically sent updates as they are released.

That is the thing with Blu-ray, it doesn't stay the same for very many weeks in a row. Now that I have updated mine (LG stand-alone) the movie takes just under a minute to load, like most of the other Blu-rays that I have.

Latest update on my collection: 6,138 total titles, with 397 of them Blu-ray. Very few double-dips.

It depends on the player. Some get updates all the time, and some rarely get any. I have the latest updates for my player, but Sony hasn't released a new one for my stand alone player since last October.

Ordering the discs is an option, but I've found it pretty easy to download them and burn them to a CD. Anyway I'm not sure if my player has problems with Kick Ass. I haven't seen any reports of the player not working with the movie, but I don't have a copy of it to try out. I've heard good things about the movie, so I'm going to give it a watch sometime soon.
