Other villain actors....

Post by Jay »

Since they are making a live action Maleficent fim I thought it'd be fun to see if we can pick actors and actresses to play other Disney villains that might be able to have film about them. Glenn Close played Cruella and Angelina Jolie is rumored to be Maleficent. what about other villains? Here are my ideas....

The Evil Queen- Charlize Theron(She is beautiful and can play very evil and scary just see "Monster" Plus she can be very uglified so she can play the dual role as the Queen and Hag very well!)

Lady Tremaine- Julie Andrews or Meryl Streep(Either would be awesome imo. Ms Andrew's would be awesome and it'd be great to see her as a hatable villainess a refreshing turn from her squeaky clean Disney image. And Meryl would bring the house down as well!)

Captian Hook- Matthew Broderick(I know Jason Issacs and Dustin Hoffman have played Hook before but I think Broderick would do good brining to life Disney's more comical version of the character.)

Madame Medusa- Emma Thompson or Wendie Malick( Both would be trashily fab as the wonderfully sicked villainess)

Ursula- Kathy Bates(I looove her and she would pull it off so well imo haha. I could totally see her rocking out to "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and being so delicously evil!)

Gaston- Gerard Butler or Jonn Hamm( I think both would be great in this role but I like Hamm a bit more personally)

Jafar- Jonathan Rhys Meyers or Sir Ben Kingsley(Different choices but I think both would pull off the character well)

Frollo- Sir Anthony Hopinks or Christopher Lee(Either one would be amazing I think)

These are all the villains I can think of. What do you think? Opinions and if you have other actors in mind and/or other villains you'd like to mention please feel free (:

What about Alan Rickman as Frollo? Okay, that's solely based on his role as Turpin in Sweeney Todd, but it is fitting.

As for Tremain, I can't imagine Julie Andrews as some cold-hearted bitch. Sorry for the language.

As forewarning, you brought this upon yourself. :P

Watch...

Star! (1968)
S.O.B. (1981)
Duet For One (1986)
Despicable Me (2010)

Besides, Mary Poppins and Queen Clarisse Renaldi aren't always nice, either.

Anyways... I like your choices, Jay. Matthew Broderick as Hook is a little out there, but I can almost picture it. I don't like Kathy Bates as Ursula. As someone has already mentioned, Ursula was inspired by the drag queen Divine and I still wish Disney would have opened the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid with a drag queen. Christopher Lee for Frollo sounds good (but since we mentioned his co-star...) Christopher Plummer could probably rock the role, too.

Calista Flockhart as the skeletal Horned King.

She's got the build for it.

Well, that's true. But Mary Poppins wasn't cruel. She was firm, though.

Tim Curry as Governor John Ratcliffe.
Last fall, I saw a TV movie called The Color of Magic and Curry plays a power-hungry wizard named Trymon in it. He looked and acted a lot like Ratcliffe in Pocahontas and that association was one of my favorite things about watching the movie.

I was the one using 'Mine, Mine, Mine'. I put it under the picture because Radcliffe sings a song called that. I thought it made it look like a funny caption picture. 8)

Alan Rickman, now there's a good choice!

Lady Tremaine: like earlier ...Meryl Streep, but then again..

either Kathy Bates or Meryl Streep for Ursula

Cruella de Ville : Sally Field (would have been my choice anyway)

Stromboli: Sir Anthony Hopkins

Clayton: Sean Connery (early years :D )

running out of ideas here...

Ah Yes!

Captain Hook: Jack Nicholson

Maleficent - If Angelina does play this part, I'm sure she'll do fine, and mainly sell tickets, but she's far from my first choice. Joanna Lumley would do wonders with this role. Miranda Rirchardson would be good too.

The Evil Queen - Bebe Neauwirth would be a great choice (for a majority of the villainesses actually, but i like her for this). Additionally, Nicole Kidman would do really well here.

Lady Tremaine - I love the ideas of Meryl Streep and Julie Andrews already stated. Streep would be sooooo good!

Ursula - No lie the first thing I thought of coming into this thread was Kathy Bates. Glad others have the same wonderful oppinion.

Frollo - Christopher Lee would be my first choice. Alan Rickman would also be great.

Jafar - Tim Curry or Jeremy Irons would be amazing.

Yzma - RIP Eartha Kitt, she was perfect in every way for this role.

Cruella DeVil - Glen Close was a phenominal choice, but I'd like to see Jennifer Saunders take a crack at it too.

I never thought of her but I do agree that Miranda Richardson would be a fantastic Maleficent! She would make a good Evil Queen as well but she already played the Queen in a TV movie version of Snow White with Kristin Kruek. And Bebe Nuewirth would be a great Queen as would Nicole Kidman. If she were younger Anjelica Huston would have been a phenomnal Maleficent, Evil Queen and Lady Tremaine! Jennifer Saunders would be a fun Cruella but I think she could be a great Ursula to she actually auditioned for the role after the original choice Bea Arthur had to decline. Her wicked Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2 kind of reminds me of Ursula slightly. And TIm Curry I Can't believe I didn'tt hink of him for Jafar he would be great! And he would be a good Ratcliffe as well. And Jeremy Irons to. And yes I can't think of anyone else who could play Yzma besides Eartha Kitt. Great choices!!!

Haha true idk I like her show but I don't really think I would like her as Ursula. Kathy Bates is my first choice for her with Jennifer Saunders next and someone mentioned Bette Midler and I like her to for the part! I also like Kathy Najimy for her but can she sing!? A drag queen would be good but who would be a good one? John Goodman in drag? haha

Tilda Swinton as the Evil Queen
Reese Witherspoon as Helga Sinclar (Atlantis; I also think Nicole Kidman would be a good or even a better Sinclar than Witherspoon, Kidman even looks like Sinclar)
Joan Collins as Vicky from the Parent Trap
Liza Minnelli as Cruella DeVil
Karen Black as Yzma
Now on to the Male Villians:
Tony Jay as Judge Doom (if he were still alive, doggone it :( :x !)
Mike Eisner as himself ( )
I totally agree with the poster who said Christopher Lee for Judge Frollo! He will be excellent in this role.
A man as Man in Bambi
Dwanye "The Rock" Johnson as Gaston
