Earthquake strikes Ontario, Quebec... tremors felt in US.

Post by Widdi »

a 5.5 magnitude Earthquake struck near the Quebec and Ontario border at 1:41pm today (June 23/2010). According to CTV newsnet (Canada's answer to CNN) tremors were felt throughout Ontario and Quebec as well as New York, Michigan and Ohio in the US.

I know UD has memebers living there so my question is did anyone else feel it?

I thought my cat was fooling around beneath my couch and causing it to shake until the pictures on the wall started to move and my floor lamp fell over.

Glad it wasn't a big one, but it was an interesting experience. Just waiting for any aftershocks that may occur now.

I live in Ottawa, so I felt it! It wasn't even that bad, and we are very close to epicenter of the earthquake. You watch the news and people act like they were about to die or something...drama queens? I guess I now know how Ottawa will act in a state of crisis...they're all wimps. I was sitting in a classroom helping a teacher I volunteer for and it started shaking for 10 seconds and that was it...LAME! Where's the destructive earthquakes :P! I'm kidding but I'm happy no one got hurt.

God! I have family in Ontario, though if it's at the Quebec Border, I guess it's okay.

We didn't feel anything in southern Ohio so I guess it didn't reach that far.

They said part of Michigan felt it, but I did not feel it in the area where I live.

Dude! I have to ask a friend that lives somewhere in Quebec if he felt it!

All of these earthquakes/tremors are getting disturbing. Puerto Rico felt a very strong one back in May, the first in A HUNDRED YEARS!

I'll be adding the safety of the world to my prayers...

I felt the earthquake here in Waterloo, ON! I was sitting in the kitchen, looking through my mail, and suddenly the building started to shake for maybe ten seconds. I thought it was just construction going on nearby, but then my roommate came home three hours later and was like, "Did you feel the earthquake?"

Where I am in Ontario I felt the computer and chair shake a bit for about 10 seconds or so and then nothing else. I didn't realize it was an aftershock untill hours later.
