Official Open Vault Disney Discussion

I posted this a few times, but I think it is time we do something and be more proactive in getting done what needs to be done. I'm talking about saving the Disney Treasures line on DVD and getting more Disney Afternoon releases. I was waiting for others to comment and what not, but finally I decided to just do it.

We have a fan page on Facebook to collect people in this effort:

And of course good word of mouth will be needed as well. I literally just started it, so right now the page may look a bit bare, but that is why I need some good people to help me Admin it and run it as well as good people to just join and help in the cause!

I think with enough support, we may pull something off, but we need lots and lots of people. The group has a slightly more generic name as I thought it may be used later for getting other classic Disney shows and films on DVD later. Let's get to work!

I think your approach to cover the release of all the Disney classics beyond the Treasures franchise is good one.

Thanks Mouseketood! I just got tired of people here and other places talking about how much they thought it sucked that the Treasures and other shows were ending or not being released, and then no one did anything. I don't know if we will actually pull this off, but dang it I say we try!

I also thought making it so that it could keep going past the hopeful saving of the Treasures and Disney Afternoon shows was a good idea as I'm sure there will be other things after that.

Gregbert, thanks. I will look at your blog, but either way, we need people right now and lots of them. I think when we get the word out, the people will come.



I think for now, my main aim is to get petitions going and to get letters and e-mails sent. Between both ends, I hope we get this going. Again, I need people to help me. With enough in leadership roles and then others in miner, yet important roles, I think we can do this. Putting this on blogs, e-mail mailers and web sites as well as any other place Disney fans may be is also another avenue we need to take.

Even if people are not on Facebook, we still need their help!

Yes, I can see the humor in it. I wrote this very tired. I just want to make sure it does not attract individuals that will tarnish it in anyway and put up crap that I've seen other groups and fan pages have up because of lack of moderates moderating. I should have put "pornographic" instead looking back. Oh well.

You may be right, they probably do shred their mail. If that is the case, then we are going to give them a ton of paper to shred! I'd like top get a hold of phone numbers and e-mail addresses to as well as get petitions going. Just like a savings account, I think diversifying is the way to go.

If you are interested in maybe being an Admin, I'm not opposed to that. You don't have to be, but I am looking for a handful of people to join up as I can't do this alone. I have too much in my personal life to single handedly do this too. I'll do as much as I can, but I need help.

Small groups will not get noticed and Disney will not even care. Large groups, and I mean LARGE groups will get noticed and may have their desires rewarded. We are taking on a 500 lbs. gorilla. Only another 500 lbs. gorilla can match it. The more people we have behind this, writing e-mails or letter, signing petitions, maybe even making phone calls, the more likely we will become that 500 lbs. gorilla.

If anyone can get Leonard Maltin's address, that would be good. Animation Historian Jerry Beck and John Canemaker maybe good as well. They have influence and the ears of people we don't and we could use some powerful allies!

Completely understandable. I shouldn't even pretend like I can pass judgment. Even I'm shocked at the stuff that comes out of my mouth when I so much as pass by an ad for Evony. I quote-th Roseanne, "You know- every one of these girls has a mother out there somewhere who's dying of shame. Oh, wait- I'm wrong. Here's a naked girl and her naked mother in the sidecar."

But since the group has been created maybe I should contact him and tell him that the group has been created and ask him to spread the word.

You have enthusiasm, I like that. Yes, there is a good chance this may not work. I think a quot from the man himself, Mr. Walt Disney should be remembered in times like this. He said:

"I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter."

You never know what you can do until you try.

Looks like you are already joined up for now. So, unless you want to start writing to the two address already up, sit tight for now while we get more people and more means of communication with Disney.

But if you are interested in an Admin role, I'd need to know who you are on Facebook. Why don't you post something on the group wall letting me know who are are from here and we can go from there.

Yes!, Yes, and YES! Pass this on to him if you can. We need guys like Jerry Beck to pull this off! Jerry beck is something that you or I are not, a respected voice in the animation and Hollywood communities. His support would go a long way.

You could have started this if you wanted to. While I am American, I don't think being a fan or passionate enough about anything should be held back just because of where you call home on the map. But non the less, I thank you for your help. Since you were thinking about do this anyway, any interest in becoming an Admin on the group and being part of the leadership? I could use the help.

But Im no good writer as im not writer of native English or American English, as this is another reason Why I didn't want too be the top man about geting this things going as are talking about American relese of this materal rather than European release. I can help out with removing Spam and such thing though so you dont have to wory about such things.

On other internet forums Im not only talking about Disney forums, as I estimate that folks on here don't only use this Disney forum when it comes to DVD as I'm talkingabout forum similar to BCDB, DVDtalk and hometheater forum to name few example so pepole should encouraged to spread the word on other froums as wells as send freinds on facebook invitation to join the group.

Just a reminder, we still exist and are growing! But we still need more people to help out! We also are in talks with some other groups on the web that maybe able to get up off of just Facebook and on to a web site! This would be great if we can get this going, but for now, if you have a Facebook account and have not joined up, please help up out! We need to get letters, e-mails and phone calls to Disney, as well as the word out to anyone and everyone about the existence of the older films and cartoons that is on DVD to help their sales numbers!
