Does anyone else play Magic: The Gathering?

Post by nachonaco »

Just curious. If you do, what do you run?
Man has a dream
And that's the start
He follows his dream
With mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true
For you and me!

Funny enough, after shunning it for years all of my friends recently came back to Magic. I only played it once many summers ago but I don't know much about it.

I play it on occasion. I'm not too good so I end up getting my butt kicked.
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

Lilo: I'm not touching you!
Stitch: TOUCHING ME!

Never played it.. bought a pack once, but it was too soon after Yu-Gi-Oh! was popular. After that, I just stopped doing these fads.

^ Is it a fad if it's been around since...the 90's? ;)

I play on and off. More so back in the late 90's. But then I took a break and just recently started collecting the cards again. I actually have more fun just collecting the various creatures in all honesty, as well as make several decks for the heck of it.

Yes it's a fad. Things like Pokemon are called fads too, and yet the video games still are some of the best selling in the industry and the Card Game continues to rake in the cash too. They just aren't as widespread as they were before.

Hell you can still buy Pogs if you know where to look.

And to answer the question of the thread, no I don't. I tried when I was in elementary school when it was really popular and just didn't like it.

Im saying it became one. These things seem to go in and out of crazy-level popularity before/after finding their fanbase.

I remember back in primary school, I had to choose between this and the Yu-Gi-Oh card game. Well, as Yu-Gi-Oh! had a tv show, I obviously chose that one. So, no I haven't played - but almost. Yu-Gi-Oh was also way more popular in The Netherlands - probably also thanks to the cartoon which was re-run on FoxKids/Jetix like crazy, but Disney dropped it, so now both are pretty obscure.

Though I have to say from what I can remember it did look pretty interesting.
