Shakesphere Conspiracy

So I read this article in a sunday edition paper, and I found an article about a conspiracy against Shakesphere. According to this conspiracy, Shakesphere was not the real playwright of the famous plays but a man who was the Earl of Oxford. The director of 2012 is making this movie called "Anonymous." In the theory, the Earl of Oxford was the secret son of Queen Elizabeth and became her lover when he got old. Shakesphere took the credit because "the facts" had to be hidden because a Tudor prince couldn't be seen stooping to playwrighting. So is all of this learning of Shakesphere at school false?

That's just what the article said. Supreme Court justices and actors such as Jeremy Irons have come out against Shakesphere being the true playwright. What do you think about all this?

Wow that's crazy. I've never heard that. Imagine if that somehow (although it would never be possible) actually was proven to be true. That would blow up the whole world's minds.

I'm going to say it's not true. It's just too crazy to be believable. Although it's really not that crazy. I'm sure something like this has happened before, but in this situations they just happened to become the most famous plays/poems of all time.

There have always been a great number of people who have doubted that Shakespeare could have written the kind of oeuvre that he created (i.e., Shakespeare was from too humble a background in Tudor England for him to have written such strikingly rich works). The list of possible Shakespeare authors is quite large, and I read one list that had Elizabeth I as one of the suspects. Obviously, we can't know for certain now as to whether Shakespeare actually wrote the plays or not, and four hundred years after these works' creation, I think that an enquiry isn't necessary. Trying to bring the Bard to justice like this is, quite frankly, much ado about nothing.

Honestly, this "conspiracy" is always pushed upon famous authors (Homer's The Odyssey and The Iliad anyone?)

We will never know if he wrote them or not, but I"m going to say he did.

Just because he came fom humble beginnings shouldn't make that a clue to him not writing those works though. He wrote, he wasn't building a helicopter. Writing doesn't need artisocrasy just knowledge and imagination. Mostly imagination. Some of the best books written are often by people who didn't take a lick of college. I think this conspiracy theory is just that, a theory.
