Despicable Me

Well, it looks slightly above average-meaning it'll be funny.

It might be alright. The first 3 teaser trailers were so vague that I couldn't even tell what the movie was about, but this last one finally gives you an idea of what direction their taking. It's familiar ground but they could always surprise us.

It looks...... Mildly interesting, to say the least. Kristen Wiig is in it, so that's a plus.

This film has been on my must-see list for awhile. The animation quality, I must say, is very nice. I don't expect much out of the story, I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but to be honest, a film whose makers cast Julie Andrews in a villian's role in a KIDS movie, must be genuises. So I'm crossing my fingers for a critical and commercial success.

I'll say this out loud, it's a cute twist to have the "hero" of an animated film be a supervillain. Also, the kids are very cute :D

Well, its about time we finally got a trailer with a freaking story line! The first teaser really was boring and stupid, IMO. I am not sure if I'll see this, but the trailer is much more promising. I also like the fact the villain is the reluctant anti-hero in the picture. It does look funny and cute, just not sure its worth the movie tickets. I'll give it another trailer or two to decide.

Well, the movie opens today! I probably won't see it for a little while, but I promised myself I'll try and see it in theatres.

Anybody else excited?

I am! I mean, at first I was underwhelmed by the previews since it made it look like yet another CG film. But I have heard nothing but great reviews, including some of my friends. This might be one of the better non Pixar/DreamWorks movies of the year.

Saw Despicable Me! today, and it is definitely a treat for the eyes and the brain. It is not a bad movie, it is not a great movie, but it is definitely worth a $7 3-D movie ticket.

The theater was about 3/4 full and there were lots of laughs and very 'down-time' in this very cute film from Universal. I personally don't like Steve Carrell in person in his live movies, but he is a great character voice and those of you who love Julie Andrews won't be disappointed.

I highly recommend this to all those naysayers who judge a movie by it trailer or by the company that puts it out. This is definitely gonna make some money these next few weeks.

:D

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. It looks like a funny and enjoyable animated film and plenty are saying it has heart, too.

Oh and those yellow minions are going to be huge, from the looks of it.

The funny thing is that they remind me of the Little Green Men from Toy Story and the Raving Rabbids from Ubisoft's Rayman games.

That would be pretty hard to do since this is Illumination Entertainment's fist movie

Yeah, but people have a tendency to think animated films that don't have a dancing lamp in the front aren't going to be any good. And then, suddenly they're surprised when Surf's Up, How to Train Your Dragon, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Kung Fu Panda and Bolt all turn out to be really good.

The same thing happened in the '90s when Disney reigned supreme and every other animation studio was considered so much more inferior (despite a number of very good gems like Mask of the Phantasm, The Prince of Egypt, Cats Don't Dance and The Iron Giant).

The movie was quite good. Funny and touching. I had a good couple of laughs myself.

I saw this today! I never, NEVER would've seen it in the theater if I hadn't read up a little on the plot and other characters in the movie. There were some little details that were absent from all the trailers I'd seen: 3 to be exact. I mean, if I knew where they were going with the story I would've had more anticipation in the past months.
Anyway, I was happily surprised with this movie. The only annoyance I have is that the minions stole most of the comedy moments, especially when the rest of the cast could've produced the same laughs.
Bring along a friend (I did) so you can  with and enjoy all the evil-cuteness this movie has to offer.

PS - I didn't see it in 3D. For those who did, what did you think?

We saw it yesterday and I liked it. Agree that the first two trailers didn't do it justice. There's more story than meets the eye. Some of the humor is corny pop-culture stuff, but presented in a way that supposed to be corny.

And since my girlfriend's name is Agnes, we had a few extra laughs comparing her to the character.

"It's so FLUFFY!" may become a regular catch phrase in our house. :)

saw it now. like everyone said, it's a good movie-but it still has its cliches and fart gags.

Anyhoo, Steve Carrell was a good Gru, and there were references to Austin Powers, Snow White, the Godfather, and even Gru-ray.

as for the little girls-cuz little boys will never have roles like this-they were definitely very cute, and the whole "moon" thing turned out to be funny.

nice movie. Intentionally not mentioning things here, but good movie.

From what I've read, it did exceed expectations. It grossed $60.1 million or something like that in its first weekend. Not even the producers thought it would do that good. They said they would have been happy if it made $30 million. I'm tempted to see it, so if I'm in the mood to go to the theater sometime soon, I'll try to.
