After what WB did regarding The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a far more popular show, I will not be biting on this release. This show is probably going to be a one and done dvd release (meaning sales are too low to finish the series). Hopefully not, but I'll wait until the series is almost finished on dvd before starting it. I know that I am contributing to lack of sales, but I've been burned before ala Mad About You, Everwood, Fresh Prince, Boy Meets World, etc.

Great news for the fans though!

You do know that new seasons of Fresh Prince and Everwood have been scheduled for release, right? (Edit: I now see you started a thread on it, so clearly you do.) Although I can't figure out why Lionsgate is dragging their feet to get to Boy Meets World and putting out stuff with presumably less collector demand (My Wife and Kids, According to Jim) first. Maybe they're taking time to do bonus features? Yeah, that's definitely it...

It's a rare occasion
In this day and age
To see any 80's (90's) shows
On the Wal- Mart ad page
But the fan's devotion
And Nick @ Nite's reruns
Pushed WB to the edge
Now it's Family Matters Season 1.

But we hope there are some features
Not like Simpsons Season 20
But All I See
Is a cheering crowd
And WB saying they're mighty proud

As Days Go By
We'll fill our shelf with Urkel & Carl
As Days Go By
We'll stuff 500 copies in our cart
As Days Go By
It's The Devotion of the fans!

I know this is highly unlikely, but with all the TV-DVD releases Warner is churning out maybe they'll finish up George Lopez and What I Like About You sometime in the near future.

Wow, what a coincidence! I was just wondering about whether or not it would happen. Actually, I did that at Noon about.

Well, in my honest opinion, the show started to really go downhill when they focused a lot on Steve Urkel, almost to the point where he became the star of the show.

The first seasons, however, were balanced in that they focused on the family while Urkel was the comic relief.

You're probably right about that. Of course, I've seen a ton of episodes from that show and I only remember them focusing on Steve Urkel. I think even when Laura was dating, the guys she dated always ended up interacting with Steve.

this show I'm going to pass due to the fact I have run out of storage space for my live action DVD collection (the recent purchase of the 'Allo 'Allo complete series collection set being the finish. I am leaving room for the Three Stooges Collection V9 and Muppets S4 and 5 sets when they come out.)

A bit off topic:

Anyone ever seen or owned one of these?

YES! I do own one of those Urkel dolls!! We can only hope that Warner Bros. releases all 9 seasons of this wonderful family show.

I so hope that all of the TGIF shows eventually make it to DVD. I have my doubts on shows like "Odd Man Out", "You Wish", "Brother's Keeper", & "Teen Angel" but there's no reason that "Clueless", "Step By Step", "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper", & "Just the Ten of Us" shouldn't get a release.

TO LIONSGATE: GET ON THE BALL WITH THE "BOY MEETS WORLD" DVDS!!!

I love it yakkofan! This made my day!

Anyway, I'm excited this is coming to DVD. But I fear it will follow in the foot steps of "Murphy Brown," "Perfect Strangers," and "Growing Pains" and only get a first season release. I'm not happy that WB would do this to any of these shows, but oh well, not the first dumb move they have done.

Personally though, even if they did release all 9 season of this show, I think I'd only collect the season on ABC, and then I may skip the last few. As much as I like Urkel, it was a mistake to make it just his show at the end they way they did.

Oh ya, and I remember seeing the dolls at toys stores when I was a kid. Never got one, but I was also to interested in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures back then and only had so much money.

I had an Urkel pull-string toy back in the day!

I'm so excited for this release. "Family Matters" has been at the top of my most-wanted DVD releases list for a very, very long time. I hope sales are strong enough to bring on a Season Two release. Definitely gonna get this when it comes out!
