Miley has no business next to MJ and Elvis!

Is Miley's inclusion insulting to the other people portrayed in the hall?

Yes, absolutely!

Miley has no business next to MJ and Elvis!

Post by DARTH KNITE »

Just wanted to know if anyone here is as disgusted that Disney has placed a portrait of Miley Cyrus next to Micheal Jackson and Elvis in music section of their new Lincoln hall on Main St? I personally think this is crossing the line of selling out even by their standards. The wall is displaying people who have broken ground in their particular field, and she's up there with legends such as Jim Henson, George Lucas, Martin Luther King Jr., and The President. Who's with me that Town Hall complaints are in order?

I had a great laugh seeing that a couple of weeks ago. She is hilariously out of place. But as it's simply a post-attraction walk-through thing, I can't say I'm disgusted or outraged by it. I bet a fair number of kids are more excited to see her picture than anyone else on the wall.

She has every right to be up there.

Don't be so discriminatory towards her just because she's not from your generation.

She deserves to be there for a number of reasons, including the fact that she continues to be herself and follow her dreams despite the constant flack that she gets from people, especially from the Disney Elite and other bully-like adults.

In my point of view, when younger stars like her get such undeserved harsh criticisms from adults like that, they're acting like bullies and making fun of kids, which is just downright shameful.

She is in my generation, and I don't think she belongs there either!

Hell, if you want to give someone some award for "being herself and following her dreams despite the constant flack she gets from people," it ought to go to someone like Lady GaGa. She's criticised a heck of a lot more than Miley, and deserves said criticism much less.

Is Miley worth hating? No. She's just a pop singer, she's not the Antichrist or anything. She's actually a pretty cool person, despite being a "just OK" singer and mediocre actress. Is she worth honoring? Not really.

It's not the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It's not a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

It's a wall.

In one room.

Of a theme park.

It's not the end of the world.

I don't really care. I just really think that she really isn't worthy of anyone saying that she broke any sort of ground in anything. They can put her there for all I care, I just don't particularly think she deserves it.

Well, her 3D movie did break records, and I think her Best of Both Worlds Tour may have broken records, and her recent tour's paperless-ticket system was pretty groundbreaking.

But Elvis >>> Miley. And I do like Miley a lot. But Elvis >>> Miley still.

Miley is out of place there because she is new. there have been a lot of artist that start out strong but everyone forgets them after a while. That's why she's out of place. She has an enormous following. Does she deserve it? I have no idea why it's even debatable, she doesn't. She's not herself as someone previously said, she likes to stick to whoever is hot at the moment (Party in The U.S.A- Jay-Z is the ultimate rap/hip-hop artist and Britney was making a comeback. She even said Britney was her role model to later say she doesn't listen to Jay-Z. Michael Jackson passes away and Lady GaGa becomes the hottest thing and now they're mentioned in the song...may be that doesn't matter but I find it terribly annoying).Actually how do we know she's herself? First of all, "herself" apparently is inappropriate, I do realize I didn't mind when Britney was her age and acted so much sexier, but even she seemed tasteful. And the excuse for being "herself" for being slutty doesn't cut it for me.

Anyway, she is definitely not in the ranks of Elvis Presley. But she is one of the most important players in the teen league (I would say the most "it" but Taylor Swift stole her thunder), almost as high as Britney Spears. And is it really surprising Disney is being completely shameless about her fame? Disney is nothing but shameless lately. But you gotta give this girl some credit, she knows how to stir things up.

Sorry, but I feel that you're dead wrong about Miley.

People should not go about bashing people that they don't even know.

You don't even know how old I am, so please don't make this about a generation gap. It come down to groundbreaking talent in the music industry. Several movies break records, but aren't considered any good. Money doesn't make her an artist, artistry does. She's done nothing for the advancement of singing, music, dance or anything anywhere near what MJ and Elvis had. The most obvious choice would of been Madonna. Then you have the Queen of Pop, next to the King of Pop and the King of Rock & Roll, but really almost ANY other figure in the music industry would be more qualified. Everyone up did something like no one had seen before, what's she done? She's a manufactured dollar sign for Disney with no legitimate talent. Even if she could sing (which she can't), or act (which she can't), or write (which she can't), she still hasnt' done anything near the legendary impact of the others there. It's about standing the test of time.

Sorry to say it, my friend, but you are completely wrong on every level.

And generation gaps do have a lot to do with this.

Besides, it's just a wall in Disneyland. Start being more courteous and respectful to others and don't get so bent out of shape.

I'm sorry Local, but you're the one who is dead wrong. Why? 'Cause I just posted that on the internet.

Do I need a supporting argument? Do I need reasoning? Do I need anyone to agree with me?

No, your just dead wrong, and nothing will ever change that. Not even begin more "courteous" to others.

You can't use the generation gap as an excuse. Then the only people who will even consider her any good are her generation. I do see what you mean. I will defend things from bitter old people (Jonas Brothers, Twilight, High School Musical) not by saying they're good all the time, but by saying they're not as people make them out to be. And then you should see that she is targeted for kids under 13, and kids without much notion of artistry.

Everyone on the internet is wrong except for me. Why? Because I say so. And you'll still be wrong even if you prove I'm wrong. Because there is nothing right on the internet. Except for www.thisisrightbecauseIsayitis.com, but even that can be wrong, even though it says it's right.

Don't worry. Within any number of years, I'm sure Miley's picture will be gone and Disney's latest protege will have the place of honor. Needless to say, the picture's placement provided amusement for myself, and I could tell other people exiting the attraction were equally amused.

Miley Cyrus in Lincoln Hall

Post by Disney Duster »

Just think of this...

Would any other place, any other wall, have Miley Cyrus among those others?

And you know the answer is no.

So why would she be here? Because she's owned by Disney and one of the biggest things for them, but not the music industry.

I'm sorry, but a lot are getting bent out of shape. And for what? A picture being on the wall?!

Geez, be thankful it's only on one wall and not plastered all over Disneyland. Literally! :x

That bold part isn't really fair. There are many of us in our late teens/early twenties that are fans of her, Jonas Brothers, etc and us liking them doesn't mean we don't have much notion of artistry.

To entire discussion: I honestly find most Miley attacks to be unjustified and unfair. Her portrait is next to MJ and Elvis on a wall in a hall. Who cares? Are we supposed to pretend she doesn't exist in music? I really don't understand why all the Miley/Jonas Brothers hate. I can understand if one dislikes their music but most of the hate I've seen directed towards them seem pretty irrational to me. Writing a complaint because one can't stand the sight of her on a wall that happens to be next to MJ and Elvis? Seems pretty irrational to me.
