I'm huge fan of Irwin Allen's sci-fi tv series (I have Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Time Tunnel on DVD) and finally purchased the Land of the Giants Boxset when it went on sale (the normal price is outrageously expensive!). I first bought it from Deep Discount but wound up requesting replacements 4 times before I finally tossed in the towel and asked for a refund; it had the same exact glitch at the same exact spot each time (it pixelated and froze towards the end of the first episode "The Crash" on Disc #1).
Months later, when it went sale at Amazon, I purchased it again and, would you believe it, it had the same exact glitch. I now have the third replacement set from Amazon and so far it's been okay (no glitch on Disc #1 like before), however it is not quite error-free:
On Disc #5 Side B in the episode entitled “Inside Rail” at time interval 30:23 a frame from time interval 30:34 briefly appears for a split second. The disc does not freeze or pixelate and the time display on the DVD player does not jump ahead or get interrupted.
It's very strange.
On Disc #5 Side A at the very end of the disc after all the episodes are finished, when the Deluxe Digital Studios logo/promo plays, the disc freezes and pixelates and does not return to the menu.
I am on Disc #7 now with two more discs to go and I haven't had any others errors. I'm still deciding whether or not to return it since the two glitches don't fully affect the episodes themselves. It's just frustrating to have such issues after going through 7 sets!
Has anyone else experienced the same or similar problems with this set?
Is it worth returning it to Amazon for an eight try at an error-free set?
Are there any places that sell individual discs from DVD boxsets?
Any assistance or feedback is deeply appreciated.
