I honestly didn't realize he was still alive, but at least he lived a long life and seemed to be a very humble guy.

I grew up on Davey & Goliath (which I've been watching today) and Gumby. I've heard that many of the artists that worked on the 80's version of Gumby went on to Nightmare Before Christmas and other projects. :)

Never watched Davey and Goliath growing up (As it was never on TV) but I did watch Gumby a lot when it was on Nickelodeon.

I never even heard of Davy and Goliath until a few years back (and funny enough, I recently the Drawn Together episode in which they are parodied).

I confess something, though. When I was a kid Gumby used to scare the living daylights out of me. As a kid, I was somehow able to tell that hand drawn cartoons weren't real. But with puppets and claymation I could tell that they were organic beings that were alive, in other words, they were inanimate objects (or substances in Gumby's case) brought to life, and that really scared me.

Good to know that the creator was able to live such a long life, good enough to see the fruits of his labor :) .
