All my dvds ruined

Post by Disney Lover »

I had them in boxes in the basement because I hadn't had a chance to replace my dvd cases that were broken during my move back home. Anyway, my parents septic tank decided to back up majorly and flooded the basement. A good portion of the stuff down there was ruined. And of course their home owners insurance won't pay for it because they are asses. So, yeah, 200 some odd dvds lost. And a good portion of them were Disney that are now in the vault.

Wow, that's terrible. I am very sorry for your loss.

While we are on the subject of DVDs, does anybody know where I can sell unwanted dvds?

Well my parents have been alternating soaking up the water in the wet vac we had and sorting everything out that was down there. With what was ruined and what was salvageable. My parents refused to let me down there and brought up the 2 boxes that had my dvds in them. I sat for an hour or 2 and wrote down all the dvds I had so that I could remember what I needed to replace. Some of them I probably won't replace but most I probably will.

THe stuff that was ruined is going into our barn ( which just houses the lawnmowers and junk basically) until my dad can rent one of those big dumpster type things throw the stuff away.

Most of it was just junk we no longer use and dad refused to get rid of. We don't go down there very often. Its just mainly a junk room. LOL. Other than the laundry area.

Oh man, that's horrible.

That's why I always make sure to keep the stuff that's important to me in areas where they can't get ruined (not that I'm calling you out on that or anything)
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

I am so sorry this had to happen! I don't know much about discs, but is it possible the discs just need to be dried and they will still work? I imagine the case artworks are ripped and ruined, but maybe you can still watch your movies.

If this happened to me, I'd stick all my discs in a huge storage case binder and decorate the hell out of the covers. Then again, not everyone loves drawing but maybe you do!

wow that really sucks i would've been pissed. i was mad at my sister just because her daughter, my niece, decided to take my copy of Oliver and Company and ruined the case itself. the DVD is fine but the plastic to the case is ruined. this happened last week. your loss is by far worse than what happened to me. i feel your pain. a lot of money down the drain

That sucks the big one. I know how you feel though. I lost my entire DVD collection to a fire a few years back. It's not fun.

That's awful. I bet you spent tons of money on all those DVDs over the years. Did you watch some of those movies a lot? Do you have to recollect everything all over again?

It's even more bad that all those ruined DVDs will be tossed into the dumpster. That is sad.

I'd seriously freak out if that ever happened to me...I know it's sad to be so attached to "things", but when you invest so much money and time into a DVD collection you really care about, it must be so scary when it's all suddenly taken away.

Yeah, I can post on here the ones I lost. Give me a minute or so to find what I did with my list I made.

This is seriously very nice of you guys. Definitely not expecting this when I posted about this. Just some sympathy and maybe some hints on where I can go to get some of the vaulted classics.

These are the main ones that I lost:

The Lion King
Lion King 1 1/2
Lion King 2 Simba's Pride
101 Dalmations
101 Dalmations II
Peter Pan
Lady and the Tramp
Lady and the Tramp 2
Cinderella
Cinderella 2
Cinderella 3
The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid 2
Ariel's Beginning
Bambi
Bambi 2
Sleeping Beauty (the newest one that came out, don't know if this is still in store)
Dumbo

These are just the ones I liked the best...I had a bunch others. Quite a collection of Disney dvds.

Does anyone know if any of those are still in stores? I know most aren't but I figured I'd ask.

101 Dalmations (Going to Vault in January)
101 Dalmations II (Going to Vault in January)
Peter Pan (Technically in Vault, but I've seen it at Blockbuster)
The Little Mermaid (Box-set is available with sequels, I've also seen it by itself at Blockbuster)
The Little Mermaid III (Available in box-set or by itself)
Cinderella (Still Available)
Sleeping Beauty (Going to Vault in January)
Dumbo (Re-releasing in Feburary)

Hope that helps.

Yeah, you'll have to hurry to get 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty before they go to the vault on January 31st of next year.

I did see a rare sighting when I saw a vaulted DVD at a store, such as a Little Mermaid Platinum Edition a few weeks ago. Most of your sequels should be easy to find though.

Thanks Iago. I'll definitely be getting those going into the vault before January. I just couldn't remember right off hand which ones were going in this time around.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for those sequels.

Thanks again.
